question on trapping

We pulled into a friends house and there were two guys setting traps in the ditch by his house. I was wondering if you need to flag your traps, so others will know where there at? I have never trapped, so I don't know if this is a dumb question. Thanks

Don't need to flag sets, but setting around a driveway is not good. Flags only let the thieves know where traps are. This is the season to be careful letting pets run. And all pet owners should know how to take a trap off .

I am not sure if they were setting 220 conibears or not, but they need to be 500' from any occupied builing.

ok, thats what I thought about not flagging. It is about 40 yrds. for their driveway. It is more than 500 ft. from a building. They have a longer driveway, but they have their open lawn go right up to the ditch. He is not letting his dogs even near that area. I was just confused to see traps being set on a main road in the country. Thanks for the help
