You are correct Mule...Chilly is a reactive coach. Conservative to the hilt. I just don't get why he holds on to that philosophy when he has a stable full of thoroughbreds who can blow a game wide open instantly.

He has stated openly that his philosophy is to have each game within reach in the 4th quarter...IMO, this will get you to a career .500 record...no matter the talent...which is where he is headed.

He's been the wrong coach for this team...these players...and our window just may have quietly shut.

There's more than just an issue of Favre's game this year. There's several Vikings players who need to pull their head out of their backside.

For the upcoming Pats game, Childress needs to be "The Coach" and tell Favre he's sitting for a game so he can heal. He then needs to turn to that horrid offensive line and turpentine their arse so they pick up the pace. IMO the Twin Towers a.k.a. McKinnie and Loadholt aren't capable of stopping a preschooler.

What blew my mind is they had Favre in a 100% certain passing down on a bad wheel and they put him, maybe Brett did it himself I don't know, but put him under center, put him in the shotgun, it took him a month to do a 7 step drop. You fooled no one Chilly, GB was in nickel coverage, we were passing for sure, watch Tom Brady pick us apart in the shotgun this weekend or if they watch the game where Tom was 24-28 and a million yards in the dome against us a few years back, shotgun, can see the blitz easier and hit your hot read or if they back off you can let your WR's get open. Well T-Jack, lets see what you got. I'd personally let TJack run a bit of wild cat or something to mix things up a little, I hate gadget plays as well but lets get a little put into the play book once again, Cleveland didn't mind doing some things to beat the saints on the road, sure those things don't always work but just don't turn it over if it isn't there.

Favre will play this weekend and he and Chili have kissed and made up.

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Brett Favre is not ruling himself out of Sunday's game at New England despite two fractures in his left ankle.

"I'm willing to give it a try," Favre said of trying to play.

The Vikings quarterback will not practice Wednesday and probably won't until at least Friday. He says he has always had a "knack" for healing quickly and that gives him hope that he'll be back when Minnesota (2-4) plays the Patriots (5-1).

"If I'm going to play, I want to play the whole game and give us a chance to win," he said Wednesday.

Favre was injured in Sunday's loss to Green Bay.

The 41-year-old Favre has a stress fracture in his ankle and an "avulsion" fracture in the heel bone, where a fragment has been torn away by a tendon or ligament. He doesn't need surgery.

Favre also said Wednesday that he has spoken with coach Brad Childress to address the coach's critical comments about his performance Sunday night.

"Emotions run high for players and coaches. I can't disagree with some of his comments. I'd be the first to tell you there's plays I should have made, plays I should have read differently," he said.

He and Childress are on the same page now in that their intentions are to "win" but Favre said "that doesn't mean we have to agree all the time."

Favre has started an NFL-record 291 consecutive games, 315 including the playoffs.

Jared Allen is worried about his relentless pursuit hunting show, he needs to relentlessly pursue the QB and he's failing at his position, put him on the other end, switch d-ends here and there, responsiblities are about the same, cmon coaches get it together.

I'd sit J Allen until half, put him in fresh, he's getting wore down in quarter 1 and has no gas to get after the QB later, these 300+ monsters are leaning on him wearing him out.

Chilly is one of if not the worst coach in the league, he's costed us more games then any single player by far. You people mad at Favre can blame Chilly for drafting Junkson to be a part time lover on the side instead of a QB.

Ofcourse Favre will "give it a try", that will keep his streak going.

Fat Pat is old and lost it, I figured he'd be expendable this year with all our fresh young linemen.

Gay Edwards who whines about wanting more money shouldn't even be on the field if he can only get a handful of sacks a season going 1 on 1 each and every snap through the whole season. I can't believe some of you guys fell for him "breaking out" because of his 1 good game last year.

Correct. Again when your QB spots the other team almost 10 points a game things will be difficult. I suppose all Favre's off field antics are Chili's fault as well. Point is Favre doesn't have a clear head right now. (understatement)

If Brett had 15 TD's and 2 INT's right now not one peep would be said about Chili other than praise because we would be winning games.

It amazes me what people expect from the offense considering the system Childress put in.

His system is one that relies on timing between the Qb and the WR's that exploits gaps in the defense. The QB is throwing to a "Spot" rather than to a "Player". We have gone through a plethora of has been washed up QB's and one prospect that has not nor ever will develop into a playoff caliber QB. The WR position has also been a turnstile and how the coach expects this type of turnover to ever lead to any type of consistency or chemistry is beyond me.

All of this takes time to develop and how Brett managed to do it last year is beyond me but it is proving to be an anomaly.

When he was hired Childress in his opening speech stated how it all begins with the lines and that the main priority was discipline that would reduce penalties. Yet the OL is no better than it was in 2006 and we are actually committing more penalties on the OL than in his first season.

Loadholt and McKinnie and the penalties they make. UGH. As big as they both are should not have to facemask guys or hold or false start to be effective. When Loadholt facemasked Matthews last sunday- did you guys see the size difference?

A team insider said McKinnie is playing better than anyone else on the line this year. What does that tell ya.....

You guys just pay attention on Sunday. On plays were we can move them off the ball and Peterson can get some running room he is good for 5-10 every carry. Most of the time our line is getting blown on their arses, the line of scrimmage moves into our backfield, and then Peterson bust his rump to gain somethin. Then on 2 and 9 or 10 we try a terrible screen play. Then on third and long we go with a draw, get stuffed and punt. Childress stinks. Were is joe webb and a halfback pass, or running wildcat or having percy do it. Lets not forget that moss is barely trying, berrian is horrible. and both lines stink. I will start another thread with guys actually trying and playing and rank them.
