Mojo question

Recommended Posts

my question is this, today I went to a new lake it is a designated wildlife management lake. I brought mojo with me but when I seen this sign it made me wonder if a spinner would illegal. I know a designated wildlife management area you cannot use them, but the sign just said designated wildlife management lake and it had a picture of 2 ducks on it, not the normal yellow WMA sign. Needless to say I left mojo in the truck. Could I have used it or not?

Ended up with 5 for the day, 3 bufflehead and 2 ringers.

I don't think the rulebook mentions anything about a WML. If its not excluded its good to go IMO.

The way the law reads is that it has to be "completely surrounded" can anybody seriously explain that? I know we have been hunting WMA's on the river and everyone is using robos and the DNR is out there alot so it must not be "completely surrounded" But I have now clue what that means.... anyone?

Regs state that the body of water "must be fully contained within a WMA" for the restrictions(Motorized decs. and motors) to apply. Thus a river, flowing through a WMA or a lake which has ANY portion not on the WMA, does not fall in to that category and thus, you can use mojos on the entire body of water. This is the way I have interpreted the rules. Many people interpret it as you can not use mojos on the portion of the water that is within the WMA but, IMO, that is not the way the regulation is worded.
