Real or Hoax?

I hate forwarding emails that I don't know are real or not but I received this one. Looking at the Forwards the guy that ultimately sent it out first works in the Audubon/Detroit Lakes area and most of the people that got it are through the Becker County Services. I haven't heard anyone saying anything about this picture yet so I'm throwing it out there.

ORIGINAL EMAIL

This is freaking scary. As you know I was alone when I downed this elk in ND. I was using my camera’s timer attached to my shooting stick to give me enough time to get into the picture. I knew there were a lot of cats in the area but had no idea they would come in this close to people. He had to be within 10 feet of me and I didn’t even know it. I about crapped my pants when I looked at the pictures the next morning and saw he was there.

naw I don't buy it. although my uncle who lives in BC said that way back when, he got a nice elk, and took some pics just like this, and once they got the pics home, they saw a cat in the tree above... although I never saw that photograph. I should ask and see if it's still kickin around.

FAKE...Who would NOT look at the pic right away after taking a pic of you and an elk. EVERYONE looks at the pics to make sure they looked okay an got a good shot, they wouldn't wait until the next day...espicially if taking a self pic.

IMO, FAKE!

If it is fake, its a pretty good job. Shading is good, size is correct, there are a few branches in front and across the cat.

IMO if its a fake, it wasn't done by the shooter. Nobody in there right mind would put themselves up for that much ridicule for no gain.

fake.

if the flash lit up the cat that well (not talking about the eyes, talking about the head/chest/legs) than it would have lit up the brush in front of the cat a lot better than what it did.

Its a photoshop hoax. There is a lot of discussion about this on a number of other forums - the picture has been making the email rounds for a while now.

The tell tale give away is the positioning of the cats feet and the fact that the ground is sloping away at that point in the picture - i.e. the cat is "floating". I also have seen what is purportedly the real picture the cat was snipped from on another forum.

I think the cat wouldnt be just nonchalauntly standing there either, he'd be more in a preditor mode of stealth, an in a crouched an pounce position. He lookes like he's waiting his turn to have his picture taken with the elk. Boar

Now the question is, is the elk real??? Real or hoax, it is a pretty neat looking picture!!

And is the man real. Looks a little fishy where he is holding the antler.

I am now convinced that no picture is real, nor do pictures even exist.

ok just checking. I hadn't heard or seen of this picture yet on the internet so figured I would hit everyone up online first before forwarding.
