full moon friday night eyes

who is going to be out for the full moon on friday night? looks like it is going to get up to 62 on friday at 4 pm with winds @ 10 mph from the SW. It will drop into the 40s a couple hours after sunset, and the winds are going to be from the W around 4-5. It says 0% chance of precipitation, so it looks like it is going to be a great night on the water!

i have just started to get into the leadcore bite out there, and that has been lots of fun. will probably get out and do that during the afternoon and nightbite hours on friday. when it gets dark, i hear guys troll shallow, like 4-10 ft. if you guys are trolling this shallow, are you using planer boards to get in really shallow? or long lining lines behind the boat?

anybody have tips on colors for cranks after dark on mille lacs? bright or dark? big/small? was thinking of using husky jerk-baits, salmo hornets, shad raps and lindy shadlings.

anybody have success jigging after dark up shallow with live bait?

thanks for the help

No planer boards, just long line for me although I see a few people use them usualy when theres four guy's in a boat to spread lines. Colors for me when the moon is showing blue/ silver, tennesse shad, clown, holographic colors. When cloudy perch, firetiger, red craw. Sive of baits #10&12 husky jerk-baits, #5&7 shad rap deep divers and #7,8,9 shallow shad raps.

JW,

No need for planer boards. Long lining crankbaits with anywhere from 85-125 feet of line out. Stick baits like the husky jerk-baits, and #5, and #7 Shad raps have been doing well. 10 fow or less.

do you guys ever post up and flip jigs into the shallows or throw out a bobber line? or do most guys just stick with trolling?

i have 2 line counter reels but both have lead on them... im thinking about just changing my mono leader from 35 feet to 150 feet on one of them to use for shallow long lining on friday night, that way I could still use the line counter feature for trolling that shallow.... any suggestions?

i was thinking about hitting the east side shoreline, and starting there.... any good spots of places i should hit? had a lot of success on big point during the day last monday... thinking about returning to around there

We will be trolling shallow this weekend for the full moon. We will also be on the east side rocks and sand/weeds. Hoping for some good full moon late night fishing. Hope the wind and rain stays away as we will be chasing some birds during the day.

Headin up in the morning, hunt some perch during the day and maybe run some leadcore deep, then hit the shallow trolling bite.....rinse and repeat.

Can't wait... good luck to all headin up.

the bite was pretty good for us last night... fish were first shallow (like 5-9 feet), until the moon moved higher in the sky.. once that happened, the fish moved out deeper (10+). we caught a lot of fish last night, including a 27, 26, and a bunch of 17-23s.

how did everybody else do out there on the full moon?

Me and a friend went out and caught some by the casino last night. 2 in 17 ft just before sunset. 1 in 10 ft just after sunset. 1 jigging a minnow out on shermans flat around 10pm and then 2 in 6 ft at midnight. 2 keepers, 15" and 19" and the other 4 were 21 to 26. Not a ton of fish but it was my first time pulling cranks and had a good time.

I was amazed at the girth of the fish until I filet the 19" and saw that it already had eggs.

We trolled out of Garrison Thursday night for a few hours, did pretty well. Ended up with 15 eyes and a bonus northern; 6 were under 20 inches, the rest over. The biggest fish of the night were a 27" and a 26".

We stayed shallow, not doing well in anything over 8 feet of water.

We had four boats in our group and trolled weed/gravel areas and boated at least 75 with most over 24" with to 28.5's and numerous 26-27". I think we boxed 20 or so not alot of sub 20's but that is fine with us. Mostly on Ten. Shad and black/silver as well as firetiger #12 HJ's.
