Well the Yanks did it to Texas last night. Texas has a big lead early in this game as well, maybe they can hang on. As disciplined and confident as the Yankees are right now I still think they will win the whole thing once again. frown

Posted

If the Rangers would not have blown the first game lead, they would be up 2-0. It will be tough in NY but Texas is playing them very well.

Game 3 should be good with Lee vs Pettite.

Posted

Game 3 is a fore sure with Lee pitching. Rangers offense is proving to be too much for the yanks. Rangers in 6.

Posted

nothing is for sure against the yanks but i really hope they get beat

I actually like the yankees better than the rangers so Go Yankees!

Posted

no one outside of new yorkers or displaced new yorkers has any reason why they should like the yankees.

Why everyone hates the Yanks is beyond me. It makes the Twins look better. AP will show C.Lee a thing or two about Yankee postseason Baseball. Also-- the Yankee lineup is the best at adjusting to the starting pitcher gameplan that I have ever seen. As we know well, get to the hammer of GOD #42,, = GAME OVER

GO YANKS!!!!

I am thoroughly enjoying watching the Yanks get slapped around. grin

And we could have, should have, had Cliff Lee...

Yes, what a wonderful butt kicking the Yankees got. Yay!

Rangers should be up 3-0. When Washinton sent the starter back out in the 8th in Game 1 I was yelling at the TV, Grady Little, invoke the Grady Little rule! No starter past the 7th in the postseason! Rangers vs Giants would be the best WS ever. 2 teams no one gave a chance.

Posted

Looks like the Ynak home field advantage just came through. Cano's HR may have been caught but 2 yanks fans had there hand over the wall and hit the Texad outfielders glove and hit it down.

Washington complained but the ref didn't bother to even review the play.

Thats how you win a game with the help of the refs.

Boy is that a b-s call.

Posted

Wow...I never knew the Yankees could get beat up like this. shocked I guess this is what CAN happen when the other teams star players actually come to play!!

Posted

im loving every bit of this rangers and giants would be a great WS

I'm all about that series match up too. It would be light years beyond what a Phillies and Yankees series would be.

Anyone catch Joe Morgan on Scott Van Pelt yesterday? He was saying that he didnt think the Yankees were in trouble at 2-1. How can they keep drinking the Koolaid? At that point the Yanks were on bad managerial decision away from being down 3-0. They had nothing against the Rangers. Did anyone think the Rangers would be in this series, let alone dominating? Morgan said, if the Yankees lose tonight then they are in trouble. Yeah, no kidding Sherlock.

Posted

would have been nice if they got swept, one pitching switch and its 4-0 for the rangers

Posted

I haven't watched much baseball this year when the twins weren't playing but watching this rangers team go into yankee stadium and put it to them just seems so weird. I'm used to the manager and the team wetting their pants the minute there is any mention of the yanks and just figured our guys weren't the only ones who faced so much intimidation by the yanks. what's the deal with them rangers and who do they think they are?

Posted

One has to love the results so far. If it does go to game 7, ol Cliff Lee will be back in and he will be hard to beat.

The Rangers are beatin the Yanks up pretty bad but they still need one more win.

Go Texas.

The next best thing to a Twins win is a Yankees or White Sox loss. Since the White Sox have been at home for a while, a Yankees loss will have to do today!

Posted

After watching this series it really feels like the Twins just laid down. Although it looks like the Yanks are about to win game 5.

I feel exactly the same...

Posted

The twins laid down as soon as they won the division and figured they would be playing the yankees.

Posted

I am going to have to disagree. They laid down after they blew the lead and lost the first game. I think they had a chance if they had won that first game.

Posted

The Twins and the Indianapolis Colts have both won lot's of divisional championships in the last decade with very little to show for it.

Funny...both teams like to "rest" their players down the stretch.

Twins are punchless and have no grit and until they find some of that they will continue to get bounced every year when it counts.

Posted

When have we ever rested our players down the stretch other then this year when it was absolutely necessary due to injury and fatigue?

Any-who I think we are over thinking things a bit here. I don't buy into all media/fan hype, excuses, like we need some yo-yo player in the clubhouse yelling and screaming or a different managerial style.

I think it's baseball and we just took the gas at the wrong time and couldn't turn the switch back on for the play-offs!

I'll watch every second of the World Series if it's the Rangers versus the Giants.. Sure would be nice to get rid of the #1 and #4 spending teams in the league!

That's why they play the game folks anything can and will happen in baseball!

Yank's got ,from Texas, what I was hoping the Twins would give them.....FUN TO WATCH grin Yanks got STOMPED and after about 3 games the Yank swagger left town.......FUN.

Posted

Rangers vs Giants...Yes! That called third strike on both ARod and Ryan Howard was awesome.

Posted

rangers vs giants who would have called that at the start of the season

No one. I like it though! Maybe the Rangers management can give us some pointers in the offseason.

Running on empty at dark on a sled is definitely stress-inducing. Been there, done that. Glad that you made it out.

Eagle swoops are always a hoot to watch.   The snow is mostly gone on the lake. Ice melt made things pretty wet but the ice is obviously still very thick.

On the South Shore...  The big question:  "How is the ice up at Lake of the Woods?"  That is for each individual resort or outfitter who operates an ice road or trail to answer, but overall, ice conditions are still very good and ice fishing is going strong!  As always, stay on the marked ice  roads and trails for safety.     Being up on the Canadian border, the colder temps Lake of the Woods enjoys vs much of the region combined with three feet of ice makes a big difference.  Fish houses are allowed unattended overnight through March 31st and it sounds like a good number of resorts will be fishing through the month, but ultimately, Mother Nature will determine that.     Regarding the fishing, overall, very good reports for walleyes, saugers and perch.  There is a strong population of smaller walleyes and saugers in the lake which bodes well for the future, but in the meantime, anglers are sorting through them to catch their keepers.   The one-two punch of jigging and deadsticking remains the most effective technique. Jigging spoons with rattles tipped with a minnow head or a lipless crankbait on the jigging line is the ticket.  On the deadstick, a live minnow a foot off the bottom on a plain red hook or medium sized ice fishing jig is catching a lot of fish.   Using electronics is super helpful.  Many nice walleyes are swimming through suspended, keep an eye out.   Anglers tip-up fishing for pike have had a great week and it should continue to get even better.  Suckers, frozen alewife and smelt are working well. Putting baits 1 foot under the ice or right off bottom seems to be effective this week.  Most common depths, 9 - 15 feet. On the Rainy River...  The Rain River is still frozen with no signs of open water yet.  Every year can be different, but on average, the Rainy River will start opening up around the third week of March.  The first boat ramp suitable for larger boats is Nelson Park in Birchdale.  We will keep you posted.    As of March 1st, walleyes and saugers are catch and release only on Four Mile Bay and the Rainy River.     Make plans now for sturgeon season.  Once the open water appears, the fish are super active.  Here are the seasons...   -Catch and Release Season: May 8th – May 15th and October 1 – April 23rd. -Harvest Season: April 24th – May 7th and July 1 – September 30. -Closed Season: May 16th – June 30th.  Up at the Northwest Angle...  Fishing remains very good up at the Angle and the ice is in good shape as well.  As on the south end, resorts monitor ice roads and trails daily and there are still some great ice fishing opportunities available.     Walleyes, saugers, perch, and pike are showing up in good numbers.  Those targeting crappies are reporting good numbers of fish.  Work through a NW Angle resort for ice fishing opportunities on this part of the lake. The walleye and sauger season is open through April 14th. Pike fishing never closes, and perch and crappie remain open year-round as well. Whether booking a day house rental, sleeper fish house, or resort stay, there is still plenty of time to plan a late-season ice fishing adventure.

Looks like a shallow lake with some potential.  Keepable crappies, decent bluegills and some nice perch according to the last survey (2015). Susan Lake   With a max depth of 10 feet, I’d want to know a little more about it before I’d start drilling holes.  Could be a nice little adventure though.

Jeff and I fished Saturday and half day Sunday, targeting whitefish, ciscos, crappies, and perch.  The bite was tough for us.  We ecked out a few, but nothing special.  Highlight of the weekend was the sled ride into Wolf Lake and having an eagle swoop in and eat a rock bass we had on the ice.  All in all, not a bad way to waste time.
