This weekend is a early rifle doe season only within herd control and CWD units. Does this mean if I hunt in a different area I can shot a buck bow hunting. I've looked through the regs so many times, I've confused myself. Anyone know what the law is?

Matchset...

so that means i can still bowhunt in my area this weekend and bring down Mr. Bigstuff. Are bowhunters limited to doe's only in those special areas then this weekend?

I believe the only restriction is you are required to wear blaze orange anytime a deer gun season is on. Most guys I know wear blaze to and from the stand then remove it once in the stand but I would never recomend this as it is illeagal whistle

Yes, strictly doe kills with bow or gun in the special units, nothing changes in the zones that aren't considered CWD Zone or Herd Control Units.

Now they are having a Doe Hunt in Decemeber for all zones except the 5 non quota areas. It's so confusing.....It's usually when I have Mr. P&Y standing broadside at 15yds and all I can do is shoot him with my camera. Good Luck!!

I agree on the difficulty to understand the regs in Wisconsin. The archery bow season in underway statewide. If you hunt in any area open to special firearms deer you must wear blaze orange but can still hunt. Everywhere else camo is ok. But you can't hunt by archery during the regular gun season even if you do wear blaze orange. Makes no sense to me at all, other than to sell us one more license.
