Good boots?

I have been wearing Danner Super Rain Forest for a couple years now, but I work in the woods. They make your feet feel indestructible and are very tough.

That’s where I finally compromised as between farming, running dozer and hoe along with endless hours on the ATV bear baiting I went with more of a work boot. For ultra light bird boots I can get another pair of Cabelas Upland Specials. Great boot that is ULTRA light and very waterproof...just doesn't hold up to everyday wear and tear well.

Let us all know how they hold up for you! I think for your intended uses you found a perfect boot.

Got my Danners a couple days ago and I love em! Not heavy like I thought they would be and NO BREAK IN! These things feel like my slippers on my feet...4x4 slippers! Should have bought these years ago.

Now if they make me shoot better they will be perfect. grin

Now get some good heavy duty leather laces and you will be set. Make sure you treat the laces with the same stuff you treat your boots with. I use snow seal. Those Rain Forest boots will take some breaking in so get them wet a time or two. Did you get the 10 inch super rain forest? Thats what I use.

Have any of you tried Browning boots? My dad has a pair for 3 years now and swears by them. I can't seem to find any locally to try on. He bought his at Cabela's but they no longer sell them.

Ok after a ton of bird hunting and deer hunting I have to say the Danner boots are great. Wish I would have done it years ago.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone tried a pair of the "Muck" boots?

They are a neoprene top with a formed bottom, which are warm, breath and are water proof and above all are light.

I got a pair of the woody Max last weekend and plan to use them for pheasant hunting and ice fishing until it gets too cold for them. But would be perfect for the march slush. They are 16" tall.

any feed back, i have not worn mine yet.

I own Mucks. One pair is the Field Master. I wore them year round. If its wet or muddy they're on my feet.

Light weight and there isn't a boot that I've worn that is more comfortable. Seriously I love putting them on.

The fit: Your foot isn't going to sloop around like most pull over boots do.

For those reasons you can walk long distance in these boots.

Grouse, Deer, Turkey, and Moose hunting the Mucks come with.

Camping and fishing trips I bring the Mucks for the rain days.

Long treks into the BWCAW on Winter Lake Trout trips, well you get to think about every step.

I'll take the Muck Boots over any other boot.

I wore that first pair out and replaced them with Woody Max.

More insulating factor over the Field boots but still lightweight and comfortable.

Oh yes, they are 100% waterproof.

For bog country I think you'd love them.

If your sitting on the ice for long long periods of time with no activity in frigid temps at some point your feet will get cold.

I see there are knocks now. Herman Survivors are one of them and thought I'd give them a try.

First thing I noticed was the weight and fit. My leg felt like a pendulum with every step and the fit isn't anywhere near the Mucks. Still they are far better then the cheap rubber or PVC pullovers.

Your right Frank,

I wore mine for a full day of walking cat tails in search of the elusive Rooster on saturday in SW MN. They are not only confortable, but light, durable and dry. I'm considering it money well spent.
