Remington 700 .308, and I've got an old Winchester 1886 in .40-65 that might see a little playing time this season if the part I ordered comes in on time.

I'll be waiting till Sconi Opener, but it'll be the trusty model 1903 Springfield 30-06 with a Leupold Rifleman 3-9 on top. It was my grandpa's until he could no longer lug it around do to arthritis. The year he gave it to me I killed my first buck, and it's been knocking down deer ever since. Don't know if it was the gun that was lucky, or the ratty, tattered, torn, old one piece blaze orange jumpsuit I also inherited from my dad that year. All i know is he hasn't shot a buck since he gave up that suit(although he has been warmer in his new stuff) All I know is that he isn't getting it back anytime soon! Hopefully the patches my mom put on it this year won't curse me.

Me: Marlin 336SC 30-30 with an ancient scope. Inherited from my old man and despite my best efforts I can't make the thing miss......

Wife: 336C .35 or the Remington 7600 .30-06.

1st weekend: Remington 1100 with a Hastings cantilevered barrel and Burris scope, loaded up with Federal Barnes tipped Expanders.

After that: Model 99 .300 Savage with an ancient Weaver 2.5 power scope.

cbrooks, that's a heck of a weapon for your first one! very nice, you're gonna love that setup, especially the swaroski scope.

I'll have the trusty ol' Rem. 700 25-06 w/ a Leupold 4-10x.

Thanks fishuhalik, I was told to get the best you can afford at the time. Luckily I had enough money save up for that particular scope. Those optics are amazing. Right at dusk or dawn that scope just sucks in light, crystal clear veiw. I wouldn't mind having your setup either Fishuhalik.

I notice alot of fellas having a gun handed down from there granpa or dad. Thats pretty cool. My dad didn't introduce me to the outdoors he had other interest. That must mean alot. I hope that I can hand my gun down some day. Good luck to everybody this season.

Mossberg 500 w/ 3x9x40 BSA scope mounted atop shoot-thru scope mounts so I can use the fiber optic sights below if the brush is too thick. Winchester 2-3/4" hollow point slugs from Walmart @ 2.29/box. Most deer don't run more than 30 yards or so (if they run at all) with an exit hole in their chest the size of a baseball.

Keep in mind, I hunt zone 261 which allows Rifle's. Used to be shotgun only and we hunt thick woods along river bottoms. Less deflection shooting a 1oz slug than a 150gr bullet out of my Rem. Model 7600 30-06.
