I was drawn this year to the Lake Rebecca Park Hunt. I am able to take up to 5 deer of coarse 1 buck and the rest under doe management tags. Am I able to purchase any other doe tags in other areas that have management areas? I know I can shoot my buck any where.

If you were to hunt ripley I know you can actually shoot 7 (2 does at ripley and 5 statewide = 7). They do not count towards your deer total UNLESS you take a buck. Then it counts towards the only buck you can take.

The only tags that I know of that don't count towards your bag limit are the disease management tags, ie 101 tags. You can only take 1 buck though, but the does are unlimited and you could still go shoot more deer in a managed or intensive harvest area.

When I emailed the DNR they said they didn't count, but now that I am thinking about it, they might have meant it doesn't count against hunting in a managed area. Maybe I will have to email them again.

I was just at Ripley for the youth archery hunt and we were told at the orientation that management tags at Ripley do count toward your statewide limit of five. But they do not count towards a management area limit. Meaning that you can still shoot two more in a management area. only one antlered deer statewide.

The only thing that would count is if you used you main(buck) tag in that area.

You are correct. I called the Dnr today and spoke with someone he said I can only shoot 1 buck which I knew but you can still shoot does in the intensive and managed permit areas. Also you may buy a doe permit if in surplus in your area. The does in the 601 area do not count toward your total deer. You may only poss 5 deer from any other permit area though.
