Garmin Oregon 450

I'm not familiar with the Oregon but I have experience with some other Garmins. To get the speedo on the units I'm familiar with there are options for setting up your display windows. You can set up which information you want to see in any given window. And there should be options for setting speed units, distance units etc.

You can download user manuals that are pretty easy to navigate from Garmin. I think you are looking for the trip computer screen. That should get you started in the right direction.

It depends on what you mean by a speedometer. Virtually every Garmin shows the speed. I actually can't think of any GPS of any kind that doesn't show speed. If you mean the actual look of a speedometer, I don't have a 450 so I can't say for sure but I pulled the owner's manual online and on page 21, there is an image of the trip log which most Garmins have and it shows more fields. I included it below. Typically these fields can be changed to different things if you don't like this list.

  • 2 weeks later...

I've had my oregon 450T for half a year and i still haven't use or even tried using all the futures on it. I use it for fishing, hunting and driving and it's great. I just started downloading the birds eye view application and I love it even more. Satellite view is awesome, very detail.

I'm 100% sure there is one on there, even though I have no experience with the Oregon series. In the map view, there should be a way to have a couple of windows open, with the ability to customize what is displayed. Options would be along the lines of speed, direction, distance to waypoint, ETA to waypoint, next turn, etc... Play around with it, you'll find it!

My garmin, not an oregon, has "trip computer" page. One of the optional data items is speed (there are a whole bunch of them)
