Outdoor Edge Swing Blade

Has anybody use the Outdoor Edge swing blade? Just wondering how well the knife holds an edge and how durable that handle is. I can't tell for sure but it looks like the handle is plastic.

I usually don't like to buy products when more money goes to advertising than the product but that skinning blade sure looks nice.

They run about $50

Any thoughts? Is there a better skinning knife for the money out there?

Last year I used my Leatherman because I lost my Buck right before opener. I enjoyed the look on my son's face when he said, "you can't clean a deer with that!" as I pulled out the multi-tool smile It worked fine but those blades don't hold an edge very long.

I have a folding buck knife. It's sole purpose is to gut deer. I think they run $30. Has a good heavy feel, easy to clean, holds and edge, but you rarely see it advertised on tv. Works for me.

I got the big kit but not the swing blade. I have been amazed with how good of quality and how sharp the knives were. Bought a second unity for my dad. I was debating on the swing blade for my girlfriend but the thing I don't like is there is no way to protect the shaft for going in the pack.

I ended up buying one. It got great reviews on Cab-yellas site. Hopefully next weekend I'll be trying it out. smile

I have the big kit and love it, good knifes at a great price. As for the Sling blade I chickend out due to the plastic handle and I like the gut hooks on the back of the skinning blades better for bear.
