hunting land

well long story short my hunting party has lost the lease we had up by orr. we were thinking about looking in the solanan state forest area by mcgrath.anybody know if there is spot to park a camper? is it already over-ran with people? any info would be helpfull. thanks

I don't know much about McGrath but there is tons of public up by Orr, you might have to do a little "hunting" to find a spot but you should be able to find some land to hunt.

I think the further you drive up north the better public hunting options you will find, there will always be some areas that are locked up with hunters but I am guessing the further you can get from the major highways the better. Good luck.

I grouse hunt up there quite a bit (MacGrath). Plenty of spots to park a camper thats for sure. As far as being over-run with people during deer saeason. My guess it's pretty busy. It gets busy during grouse season, can only imagine what deer season might be.

Also remember opening weekend will be crazy no matter what but during the week you can probably have the woods to your self. By Tuesday most of the hunters are gone and I usually have unlimited areas to hunt.

Head up there grouse hunting and at the same time do some scouting for other hunters, you shouldn't have too much trouble finding a spot.
