Red Guy Bay Muskies

Recommended Posts

I'm heading up to Rainy Lake here in September and wondering if its worth checking out Indian Bay at the north end of Red Guy Bay for muskies? I've gone up the last two years and finding muskies has been tough with only one 30 incher in the boat and a few others seen. The pike action has been fantastic so I'm not complaning but would like to see a few more muskies.

Otherwise, rather than fishing Red Guy Bay (we stay in Bear Pass) would we be better off running to Seine Bay and the Little Grassy Lake/Grassy Lake area?

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

Haven't fished Musky in a while, however when we did, the best areas in Red Gut were near, or especially just down stream from, the three straits, i.e. Perry Straits, Cliff Narrows, and Crooked narrows.

Goodevening Kustmoboy,

Previous post hits most of the areas that I've seen muskies in. I've seen a few east of brule narrows in the past but that's about it.

We fished up there this weekend. The weather and wind that moved in on Friday made getting out of Bear's Pass tough. We fished in there all day and put a few nice northerns in the boat but no muskies. We stayed at The Fisheries and I didn't expect to catch a muskie in Bear's Pass as from what I've been told are not normally in there in great numbers. Saturday the wind let down a bit and we ran up to the Cliff Narrows/Crooked Narrows area and moved one low 40's muskie before the clouds moved out. Once the clouds moved out all of the fish stopped biting until sundown but by than we were back in the Bear's Pass area.

Am heading up to Rainy (Red Gut Bay) this Friday 9/17 for 4 days. Interested to hear what the latest fishing report was after this past weekend (9/11, 12) or thereabouts. We are fishing all species (whatever is hitting) walleyes. smallies, crappies, pike, Muskies. Thanks much,

Anyone catching crappies on Rainy? I hear they are starting to school up, but I haven't heard a report lately. Any insight on depth, suspension levels, presentation would be great.
