Just think of the story.....Bottom of the ninth....two outs....down by one....man on first....Morneau brought in to pinch hit......Could make for a post season to rememeber.

I heard the other day that Justin has been working out and doing batting practice. Just maybe and hopefully he will make it back in time for the play offs.

The only concern is that he has not been playing for 2.5 months. His bat may not be that good for a bit.

"And morneau grounds out to 1st...reds win the world series! What were the twins thinking putting him in there?" That's about what would happen...no kirk gibson story here. Nobody other than jim thome has any business pinch hitting in the world series, especially considering he won't be able to DH in the 1st and last 2 games.

heh, Id still rather see Morneau bat than cuddy in a clutch situation

The way we are playing now, dont be suprised if we get swept in the first series

Yes it will take a HUGE turn around for the Twins to win the first series.

Can they do it? Yes but not very likely.

The Twins might run out of baseballs from all the home runs Toronto may hit off the Twins pitching this series.

have you guys been watching the yanks and rays? they aren't exactly lighting the world on fire. the rays gave away 20,000 tickets the other night just so the stadium would be full and got shut out by the royals. the yanks starting pitching has been a question mark for months now.

Anyone else catch that stat the other night? Only 3 teams in baseball were playing above .500 the last two weeks and all three weren't contenders. White Sox, Bluejays, and Orioles(?) I think it was.

Yes the Twins aren't playing well but the thing no one points out is the Rays and Yankees haven't pulled away from us either! Even an outside shot at home field after the last week of terrible baseball should tell you the AL EAST teams aren't on fire either!

I really do think this is the year where the AL is really up for grabs. The Twins get hot and we'll make it... I also like how no one is giving the Rangers a shot!

The Twins just announced Morneau will not make a return for any of the playoffs.

Quote:
General Manager Bill Smith stressed that Morneau has not had a major setback, but the team doesn't want him to try to rush him back for the American League Championship Series or the World Series. Morneau had said late last week that he hoped to be ready for the ALCS if the Twins get past the Yankees in the opening round, which starts Wednesday.

Morneau had a strenuous workout last Thursday at Target Field and did not feel as good as he had hoped afterward.

Morneau, 29, said he has full confidence that he will be ready for spring training by next season.

Guys gonna be like Aikman and Koskie and retire early, got a weird feeling guys.

I agree. He may never play again. Gotta feel sorry for the guy.

That would be sad. I do get concerned that Justin will not come back. If that is the best for him, then so be it.

Glad I bought my Morneau jersey a few days ago, but I still feel he will make another go of it next year. However one more close call may be it..... Really would be sad!

  • 4 months later...

Still has not been cleared to play. Dark Star (close friend of TK's)was hinting on the radio today that it might just be over for him.

It's really starting to look like Koskie's situation a few years ago.

star trib site had some tidbits on it about Morneau and it sure doesn't sound good for him being ready to go yet. Hope I'm wrong but I've got that same bad feeling about this as at end of last season.

Huge drop both offensively and defensively from 1b without him there. Cuddy is an adequate replacement there for short term but for a full season that is going to hurt if Morneau doesn't come back 100%.

Justin called into cco and discussed his situation/ He said he has improved every week, and there hasnt been any setbacks. And they are just being precautions, and want him to be 100% before they start him. He figured 2 weeks of live batting, and he will be ready to go. He said he still fully expects to start the season.

that's the best news I've heard yet. hope it goes that way.

They said the same thing last fall...remember when they kept saying he could possibly play in a play-off series if the Twins go deep enough.

Seems to me we've been hearing the same "news" since last summer/fall...that they're just been precautious or safe with him. Bottom line is he still has not been cleared to play...even after just seeing the specialist last week.

Twins are going nowhere without Justin.

The Twins went the same place without Justin that they went with him - to the playoffs, and a first-round beatdown by a team with superior firepower.

Rumor has it, Morneau to bat 4th and play 1st in the B game today. Now thats a positive sign!

Did you have any luck?     I got a bird but didn’t really do much for pics worth showing.

It depends on a lot of factors, I suppose.   I hung on to my last gas auger for a few years after getting into electric but I never used it so I finally sold it.  Haven’t missed it one bit.  You bet it was reliable though.  Still started on the second pull for the new owner.   After trying several options in the electric world, I’m currently settled on a Strikemaster 40V with Liteflight bits.  With 2 fully charged batteries, I fish all day in Canada, cutting 10 inch holes.     What I’ll agree with is, if you search by drilling and flasher sonar, you will probably be more comfortable with the run time of a gas auger.  When you start incorporating GPS mapping, forward facing sonar, and saved waypoints, you don’t need to Swiss cheese every spot you fish.  I can still run through both batteries when the fishing isn’t great but I never feel like I have to count my holes.  It’s more like: Did I need the second battery before the middle part of our fishing hours?  If I still can’t catch fish after running out 2 batteries, it doesn’t matter cuz the fish just ain’t biting.   That’s fishing on the dark side! 😉

Yep, that's where I was🤪. Best fish were way up in the shallow boulders...   And.....if the 3 or 4 people that read this want to fish it.... go right ahead😁😏  My bass spots are no secret....trophy panfish spots, that's another story🤪
