I'm curious what grain bullet you guys would recommend for a .30-06 and why. I'm thinking from 180-220 for bear, but I'm not sure. Let me know of any past experiences you've had. Thanks

180 grain works fine. I'd stay away from 'ballistic tip' as you want the bullet to hold together, but if you hit them in the boiler room and stay away from the shoulder it shouldn't be a problem.

find some 30-06 loaded with 180 grain Hornady Interbond, they mushroom well and hold together nicely. I loaded some for a friends 308, (180 grain bullets) and when we recovered it from the logs that made up the berm (private land) I brought it home and it weighed 172 grains. that is after it went deep into a log. it was mushroomed nicely and I have no doubt that bullet would put the hurting on basically anything it touched.

Picks, I used the same last year in a 150, couldnt find a 180. But an awsome bullet. Hardly any disintergration at all, perfect mushroom. Anchored my bear last year where he stood. Boar

I have a 7 mil. and all i use is 150's and when I got that for moose hunting in mn. a few years ago,I used a 30-06 with the same and took out the vitals and shoulders every time. That my friend is a no time tracking bear bullet. Put in the vitals is the ticket,------57----
