Very nice buck, there is just something about those big 8's that I like. However I will not discriminate and shoot any 9, 10, 11, 12's and up that I see.

We also got what I would think is this guys half brother on the trail cam. Exact same rack except for the brow tines are just nubs.

id have to say cougar, didnt have the pointed ears as a bobcat would have.

Keep in mind people that not ALL cougars are huge! Some are infact some what small. its 100% with out a doubt a COUGAR.

Cougars and Bobcats have no such similar face features.

Nice work on the photoshop. I wonder if I should send these to the DNR or would it be a waste of time because this cougar is just passing through two years in a row at the same spot. What do you guys think? If Lou is online than he can just see them here.

Here's one in the wild for ya. These cats are stealth quiet in the woods. Saw a bobcat in the same area at sunset on the firearms opener from my climber. It walked within 30 yards on a dead silent evening and I never heard it make a sound. Had turkeys roost right by me, sure heard them. Saw a bobcat, had a big black bear trounce by, but only big buck sighting was a two second glimpse as it chased a doe with two other small bucks. 2009 was an interesting year. We'll see what 2010 brings.

I have 2 Scoutguards and love them.

I have 3 Scoutguards.

Overall I am pleased with them.

Had problems with 2 of them last year and sent them in for service.

Found out there are knock-offs out there and I had 1.

Be careful where you purchase them from.

Also, if you read the manual it says "not for outdoor use".

I thought this was quite odd but when I questioned this to customer service she was very illusive. They do not market them as specifically game cameras.

I do like the ease of use and picture quality.

Scoutgaurd and bushnell are made in the same plant, same pieces and parts different name and exterior. I really like my bushnell. I wanted a scoutgaurd tried to order one and they didnt have any and were not gonna get any for a couple months so I got the low down on the two and ordered mine. Great cameras

Gross - easily & then some. Probably won't net very well being a 5x4. Awesome deer regardless. There's only one find out for sure...

If it were me I'd take the first one that gives you a clean shot and hope the other one makes it to next year. That 2nd buck (3rd beam) might be a younger deer, he could be crazy big next year.

I agree with Bear. I'd shoot the first one and let that 2nd one pass. Definitely not mature yet. With that said, if that 2nd buck came by me and presented a clean shot, I'd have a hard time keeping the string in my hand. It's good to have options.

The second deer does seem younger. Its rack might not look the same next year if it was damaged in velvet. Has a chance to look normal next year and will lose alot of its character. Thats the risk you take, too young versus unique hard choice. Both look nice enough for most hunters. Good luck, it does seem when they loose their velvet the turn into a different animal. Start to wonder where they disappeared to.

I would shot either one of them. I suspect both are the same age probly 3.5yr olds. Granted either one will probly be even better next year, as they probly won't show full potential until another year or so. Unless you have alot of land and they are going to be safe it still would be a tough, but if its like alot of places i would shoot either one and hope the other makes it. Good luck.

They funny one may gross 140+ tough to tell and if the dates are right he still had some growing to do.

I just saw the pictures of cats, and thought I'd post my own...although not taken with a trail camera.

Last rifle season in WI I got a nice 8 and we had it hanging in the same machine shed we've hung our deer for longer than I've been alive. The shed is about 50 yards from the house. One morning I get a call from my dad saying "you better get back here, you're not going to be happy". When I got back to the house my dad showed me what had happened to my deer...something was eating the hind-quarters. The hooves were a good 2 feet off the ground and we were thinking it was coyotes or wolves because none of the dogs around the area were big enough to get that high.

My uncle set a trap on a cement block that night and the next morning it was sprung with nothing in it, and more hind-quarter gone. Set it again the next night and this is what we got. The stupid thing was climbing up the leg and having a feast! We figure it was probably a mother and 2 young...this being one of the young. It definately wasn't happy when we let it go. We caught the other of the two later that week. Hopefully they learned their lesson and won't come back this year, although the lesson was probably FREE MEAL HERE!!!
