Neubarth Bait & Tackle

Recommended Posts

I stopped by Neubarth's bait and tackle on the eve of the opener.

To my supprise, Ryan had a very good selection of tackle and his bait prices are fair and the scoops are healthy.

Great to see a bait shop on the edge of Glencoe.

I hope enough support Ryans shop to keep it open.

I've got minnows there this winter a couple times and they were good and the service was good. I'll continue to use them as needed.

The owner's name is actually Jason.

I am very happy with his selection and bait. They have been very accomodating.

I consider them the best shop in Mcleod County.

jason is an ok guy sometimes hes on the ball sometimes you have to wait a bit as they do landscaping adn other stuff but all in all nice to get bait in glencoe and then head to the hutch lakes besides dealing with the hutch stores and the business.

It is a servicable bait shop in my opinion. Nothing special. Customer service definitely leaves something to be desired. Stop if it is on the way to where I am going but would not drive out of my way to get there.

I guess its like being in a baitshop and having to wait 10 minutes for service as they are so busy.

I just wait my turn.

I am just happy there is a place to get bait and the hours of the shop are good for me.

I stopped in a couple of times. Each time I was greeted with a "Hello, how can I help you", with prompt service. Prices are reasonable with a good selection.

Good to hear BBB.

That's what I have heard from many others.

On the opener, I stopped and picked up some fatheads and I have never got fatheads so big. A huge scoop also.

Where, exactly, is this bait shop? I'm not real familiar with that area. Is it on or near Hwy 212? Sounds like a good place. Do you know their hours of operation?

Going to Marion in the morning and will need bait. Can anybody tell me where, exactly, this Neubarth bait shop is located? I usually have taken Co. Rd. 3 from Glencoe to Hwy. 15. Have I driven by the place and not noticed it in a semi-comatose state early in the morning? Any help would be appreciated, since, as usual, we'll be on a tight schedule.

Any good fishing reports from lake M. lately?

Take #22 towards Hutch out of Glencoe about 4-5 miles, its on the left and he should have the sign by the Hwy on. Jason can show you a shortcut from their to Marion.

I stop in at neubarths when heading for Hutch area. Theres no place in decent place in hutch to get bait. I dont know what time the outpost opens but there never open when I come through. Im glad Neubarths opened and hope everything works out for him. Its nice to see a place that can be open at 5 am instead of 7 or 8.

  • 4 weeks later...

Neubarth hours of operation are 5am-9pm. Open 7 days a week. Its an alright place to go for awesome live bait. I haven't found anywhere that tops there minnows and scoops for that matter. I've spent a lot of money out there. To me it seems there more walleye orientated. Though they have a selection of bass, panfish, and musky gear. Also sometimes if you orde4r items they don't have on the shelf it takes a while. All in all it is a good place for the location.

Had 30 feet of ice out from my Stuntz Bay boathouse on Tuesday afternoon.  None inside the boathouse so I was easily able to remove my boat from the lake (just pushed the ice away in reverse and drove forward through it with my 16 foot aluminum boat).  Didn't hook up my battery so I didn't get the lake temp.  Were lots of boat trailers parked at the landing.  Hope they get off the lake easily.  Will be ice fishing in 4 weeks.

On the South Shore...  It's deer hunting season in MN and not many are out fishing.  Those that are fishing are taking advantage of the unseasonably warm weather and excellent walleye and sauger bite that is happening across the lake.   The best depths on the south end of LOW are 22-28 feet of water.     No surprise, vertical jigging with frozen emerald shiners is the program for most anglers.  Anglers are going through a lot of frozen emerald shiners as the walleyes and saugers are all mixed sizes.  You will catch small ones and your eaters.  Depending upon where on the lake you are fishing, some slots and big trophies are in the mix as well.    Anglers are also reporting very good numbers of jumbo perch this fall.  Watch out for an occasional pike or even lake sturgeon mixed in with the walleyes.      Good numbers of fish are staged in great spots for the upcoming ice fishing season. On the Rainy River...  Good numbers of shiners again in the river this past week. Typically, if there are shiners, there will be walleyes, and there definitely are.     Walleyes are coming from various spots from Four Mile Bay to Wheeler's Point, to Baudette all the way to Birchdale.  With so many anglers taking advantage of the deer hunting season, there are not a lot of boats on the river.      Walleyes are being caught in 10-25 feet of water in various stretches of the river.  The bait and consequently, walleyes, are moving around.  Once you find some fish, you will be rewarded. Jigging with live or frozen emerald shiners is the way to go. Some anglers are also still trolling crankbaits upstream to cover more ground and find fish. Both methods are producing solid results. Sturgeon fishing remains strong.  The catch-and-release sturgeon fishing is open into the spring when it changes to the "keep season" on April 24th. Up at the NW Angle...  For those not in the woods hunting, fall fishing continues to be excellent.  It is areas with structure holding walleyes in this part of the lake.  Points, neck-down areas with current, shoreline breaks, and transition zones from rock to mud are all productive locations for walleye right now.     A nice mixed bag with perch, pike and crappies being caught as well. Good muskie fishing with the colder water temps and shorter days.  Some big fish and some good numbers are being caught amongst the islands.  Both casting and trolling is getting it done.

Yes.  No lightning strikes in the area on Saturday and a tree was burning.  The squirrel hunters have been a nuisance this year with more activity in our area then we have ever seen.  This was the 3rd fire in the section of woods in the past 2 weeks.  Most definitely not caused by natural events.

Stop, trying to make everybody feel bad that not in the woods!   😟  😆

Haha!  No… In other news: All the cell cams users that I talk with are seeing some daylight movement of adult bucks since yesterday.  No deer hunters want to be at work right now.

The water temps on the west end Friday were 45 in HeadOLakes and 44 in the smaller bays.

You didn't Sluice um! 😆 I was driving 94 passed Runnings in Monticello yesterday late after noon and saw a huge, thick dark brown 8 point running alone the freeway with its tongue out.  Thinking he was after a girlfriend! 😜
