TonkaBass - nice pics! Are they all from from around the cities?

Some of those pics are good to see just how some older sheds may look. Thanks.

LOTW--Awesome sheds man!!!

Tonka, also some great looking sheds. Looks like you're having a great year!

I was up in Duluth for work last Thursday and Friday. I was only able to make it out for an hour, but did find this little buck. I know, he's a monster. This has been there for quite awhile as the antlers were really weathered. Better than nothing I guess.

Thanks guys... All my sheds were from the metro...

Shedaddict, that's a great find. Most of the bucks in my area shed only their antlers.

I found #10 this year in Backbone State Park down near Arlington, IA. Saw lots of deer, but likely was looked over many times already.

Could you guys give me your opinions. Is this a moose shed or a whitetail shed?

I have to different opinions from a couple boone & crockett officals! I believe it is a whitetail. It scores 54 0/8 as a whitetail!!!

[PoorWordUsage] - you know my first thought was whitetail also, but look how the angle of the base is more straight than curved. Most all whitetail antlers have that curve going towards the base of the antler. Yours stays straight or slightly the other way that a whitetail would go. Great question.

Hard to tell, but the more I kept looking at it, I started to think Moose. I assume this was found in an area with a mix of both.

Made it out on Tuesday night around the metro and finally found one in the metro! I found this nice 5pt walking along the edge of a swamp; about 30 yards from a road. I searched around for awhile but could not find the other side. I will definitely be going back to see if I can find it. I also found a dead nubbin buck as well.

if that is a moose, thats a really sweet find!! Im gonna say whitetail though. its not surprising to me to see an antler with mass like that in northern mn

Went out again to another spot in the metro last Friday and found this 4pt; my biggest this year so far. I found it in thick brush on the side of a hill. I had scouted this spot back in February and it definitely paid off. I will be back to see if I can match up the other side.

shedaddict - nice one. That G2 looks like it's about 10" or more!

I acquired permission yesterday on a large piece of metro property. My two boys and I will be spending a few hours there this weekend. I will take some pics and keep everyone updated.

Monkster, that is awesome. I would think you'll find something as long as no one has trespassed. I am going on a family vacation for a week, so I won't be able to get back and look for that other side until next week. Although, I will shed hunt on vacation!!!

The G2 was a hair over 12"; definitely the longest G2 on any shed I have.

A guy I know got this pic from his deer cam two years ago in this same general area that I found that shed; I would love to find these sheds.

Good luck on vacation.

That deer is amazing! Funny thing how my mind is thinking right now...I was thinking that those sheds in that picture would be so tough to pick out from the surrounding area. They would appear to be branches!!! ha ha.

Brother-in-law found a huge 6 pt bull elk horn this past Sunday. Hoping to go back out this weekend.

Jim Bob - That would also be an excellent find! Now that I am into this a bit more, I wish I would have done more searching for moose sheds when I was younger! The moose population in MN is lower than it was 20 years ago, and I used to hunt towards the north shore of Lake Superior. Finding an elk or a moose shed would be fun, especially a very large one!

He lives just outside of Golden Co. and I think he has found 4 of them the last couple of years and their all huge. One of them was the actual skull it was 6x6. Where he found the last one there is a herd of about 45-50 elk running around so hopefully we'll find a couple more. I'll try and get some pic's.
