Personally I think the jury is still out on this guy. Keep in mind he came from a small D1 school, which is much different from playing in the SEC/Big 12, Pac 10, etc. He obviously did not have very good coaching by watching his throwing mechanics early on...remember, there are poor coaches at every level of the game.

Also, if you go back to last year, the receiving corps was suspect. Berrian and Rice were both hurt, Wade was short and slow(not a good combination), and Shiancoe had the dropsies. Remember early on when Shiancoe drops a wide open pass inside the 10(either against the packers or colts; can remember which one) that cost them the game?

also, the very predictable play calling didnt help. run on first. run on 2nd. throw on 3rd. that is not real helpful to a young qb. the packers did a great job of that with Rodgers last year....short quick throws on 1st down...to get him in a rhythm. childress doesnt get that.

case in point: last year when Frerotte was playing...Childress was asked a question in a post game interview about running the ball with 8 guys in the box, and replied, yeah, I should probably give the QB(frerotte; what,a 12-13 year vet?) the option to audible to a pass in that situation....ya think?

and he has yet to play a full season due to injury and getting benched. He obviously will never be a Brett Favre...but I dont think he is as bad as some on here would lead you to believe....and no, they would not have had the season they did with him taking the snaps...what I am saying is with a project qb, especially from a small school, it takes more time....

I remember when Aikman first came to the boys and how he struggled his first couple of seasons and they wanted him run out of town(and he isnt the only young qb this has happened to)..and we see how that turned out. Again, I am not saying Jackson is an Aikman....but I think it is too soon to pull the plug on him...

Thats fine for those who are willing to spend 2-3 more years on a "project QB" to see if he would work out. I personally have seen enough to believe that he won't work out. Also this team has the pieces in place to win right now as we have all witnessed this year being one snap away from the Super Bowl.

It will be very interesting to see what happens in the off-season. That's for sure.

I agree 100%. but the vikes window is getting smaller...and after the next season or two who knows. I dont think anyone can say with any certainty whether he will work out or not. there have been many players over the years who have been written off that end up having pretty solid careers...so you never know.

lets hope as Vikes fans that Favre comes back for one more season...they will not be deep in the playoffs without him....

I agree, the window is getting smaller...and if Favre doesn't come back next year it gets slammed shut on this group of veteran Viking players.

I thought the Vikes played like the Vikes. Thats why 5 years ago I went with the colts.(Tony Dungee) It all comes down to coaching and you are stuck with Childress BOO HOO.

YAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWN

Heck yeah guys!! Lets give Junkson another 4 years to play at a professional level!! If Junkson could play ball he could of beat out Gus the bus, we wouldn't of went and got Sage, and we never would of went after Favre. He would already be re-signed in fear of losing him....get over it ladies.

This is a veteran team fella's. We don't need some project guy that's already had his share of muffs in the last few seasons.

We can only pray that the old man comes back.

I hate to say it but the saints sent him to the old folks home for good. If only McKiney and Hutchinson could do there job on a game that counted.

Rumor has it the vikings already have shown interest in a QB in this upcoming draft. The QB from Cinnci, Pike, possibly with the 30th pick? Of course thats for a few years down the road. So ya, lets hope Favre comes back because Jackson is not the man, and he isnt the link between now and the future QB of this franchise.

That would be cool, I'd like to see Favre back with an early pick QB to sit and learn for a year or two. If not I'll have to hope we get a top-tier QB or that T-Jack and Chili get-IT. smile

If it's a rumor right now, that's probably all it is...way too early for a team to start leaking who they are "looking" at...especially a first round q-back.

I do hope they take one(qb) early though and from what I've seen Pike is as good as any of them.

We need a top prospect DB, DL or o-lineman worse. However, If a top talent drops to us I'm all for the best talent available pick.

We may be interested in Pike but it will never be in the first round. Very late second or early third is most likely. There are only two first round quarterbacks this year. Clausen and Bradford. You won't see the third quarterback go until late in round 2.

I pulled the plug on Tjack last year when he went 1 for 10 in their playoff game....If this is what we have to look forward too I hope local TV picks up the packers feeds...

I wouldn't switch to being a cheesehead even if the vikes were shipped somewhere..

Whoever the QB may be I'll be rooting for the vikes.

Too bad T-Jack wasn't in the game on the last play.

Donavon McNabb would be my choice for a veteran QB other-wise we go with T-Jack or Sage and that looks like Jackson at this point.

Go Vikes!

Finally looked at the last few pages here and I'll agree with the comments on short windows in the NFL - I think this past year was your best shot but you never know. I'd be hoping for one more chance with ol Burt if I was a Queens fan.

The thing with the short window doesn't really hold up anymore. With the way BRZ handles the salary cap for the Vikes we are in very good shape every year. If the scouting staff continues to do their job and we draft well we could continue to be a very good team for a long time.

The Vikings do have some holes to fill this year. Especially with the injuries to Henderson and Griffin. We do need a long term solution at the quarterback as well.

We have a lot of young talent. There may we a down year but I highly doubt you'll see an extended swoon. We have some good young replacements and very guys on the brink of retirement.

How can they not start Rosenfels if Favre retires? He's clearly the superior QB. Nice touch on his passes, reads the defense, and gets the ball to the receiver's hands (not his feet).

I knew deep down LIMIT was a Vike's fan. grin He's watching Da Vikes! laugh

I missed Sage's good plays. I only caught the bad ones during the first quarter. In his defense he is playing with some fresh blood.

Chilly was asked about Rosenfels' first-half performance and he just blew the question off. He knows the T-Jack experiment failed but can't, or won't, admit it.

Might not have to wear ear plugs when I mow!      That’s a spendy one.  It wasn’t hard to find one of those for $6k.  Comparatively and Ariens of the same size is $4,200.  A home owner grade JD for $3,900.  You could get into a commercial grade Z700 for maybe $8k.   I think the work I did today with mine would’ve killed that one there.

On the south end...   This year's MN Fishing Opener weekend was not only great weather wise, the walleyes and saugers were caught in good numbers.  A main fish gut hauler working with a number of resorts commented it was one of the most productive opening weekends he has seen based on the amount of fish guts collected after the weekend. The goto presentation was a jig and frozen emerald shiner.  Emerald shiners are a staple in LOW and walleyes love them.  Other minnows worked also, but emerald shiners are a favorite of anglers for good reason.   Four Mile Bay held good walleyes in 12 - 18'.  Not a surprise as the walleye bite on the river during the spring season was good and as of late, sturgeon anglers have been reporting catching walleyes on sturgeon rigs.   The Lighthouse Gap area, Morris Point Gap and just in front of Pine Island held nice fish in 12 - 15'.  Across the south shore, 18 - 22' was holding good numbers as well.  As you can see, there are lots of fish around.     A quarter ounce jig in gold, glow white, pink, orange, chartreuse, or a combo of these colors tipped with a minnow worked well.   As a reminder, the limit of walleyes and saugers is a combined limit of six fish, up to four of the six can be walleyes.  All walleyes between 19.5 - 28.0 inches must be released.  One fish over 28.0 inches can be kept.  The possession limit in MN is one daily limit of fish. On the Rainy River...  Some nice walleyes were caught on the river this weekend, although most anglers hit the lake.  10 - 15' of water was the norm.     Sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River has been excellent.  The catch and release season continues through May 15th and then closes until the keep season starts up again July 1st. Up at the NW Angle...  Some nice walleyes were caught in 18 - 25 feet of water, a little deeper than anticipated.  Points were good as were areas with structure.  The morning and evening bite was best.       As water continues to warm, go to spots for walleyes will be neck down areas, shoreline breaks, points and bays.     The goto presentation was a jig and minnow.
