Ha! That's awesome WW.

We were up last weekend, had some luck on some humps (25'-30') in the evening. Also had some luck on the south side of Pilgram's

Look down at CHRISTOPHERSONS bait in Alex.... There's around a 35# catfish caught out of Ida 10-15 years ago!

Heading up this weekend...are crawlers still going good or have you moved more towards minnows yet? Any reports on water temps?

Thanks!

Went out for a couple of hours before dark for the first time in a week. Water temp is 60 deg. Didn't catch a walleye. marked fish deep -- over 40'. Some suspended. Tried crawlers ans minnows. No luck.

I was out last weekend. Didn't have much luck. I was using minnows jigging off bottom. I also made a few passes with a rapala, just a few northers. I'll be up again this weekend in a small 14 foot camo boat. Stop on by and say hi if you are around.

I went out on the 20th of July, the evening bite, and I picked up three walleyes. I'm an old school fisherman, no fish finder, just a depth finder but there are walleyes to be caught you just gotta find em and hope they are biting. I got mine on leeches, vertical jigging.

How about anyone else?

Was up there at the family cabin on the South shore the weekend of July 26th, we were targeting Bass. Hooked up with quite a few Largemouths throwing spinnerbaits, slow-rolled over the deeper weeds. I caught a few on plastics as well, but spinner baits seem to do well for action on Ida. Obviously caught quite a few Northern as well, but my brother-in-law snagged a bonus fish, 42" Muskie. I know they sneak in there from Miltona, but you rarely expect to catch one. Fun Time!

Awesome catch PGAGolfPro!

I saw one surfacing a couple years back on Ida right after sunrise, must have just finished a meal.

Hopefully soon! Was up by Grand Rapids this weekend looking for Deer and several small ponds were locked up and some medium sized ones were mostly covered over. This week should help things along if we can calm down at night.

Fingers crossed!

Lake Ida is 90% iced over as of Tuesday November 25th. Significant open water existed still on Monday, November 24th, 2014. The bays did not freeze over early so don't expect any better conditions there.

Didn't fish Ida this past weekend, went to a smaller lake, but did do some poking around by Stoney point. On the North side of the point there were spots with only 2-3 inches of ice, on the south side of the point there was 7-8 inches. Walked out to the tip of the point and there was about an inch, must be some current running past the point. Hopefully the continued cold weather improves things. I saw some wheelers out on the east side of the main lake. Anybody else get out there?

Got out on Ida this past weekend. Depending on where we went, we found as little as 5 and up to 9 inches. I heard soem of the bays had 11-14 inches. Finanlly found a good spot Sunday morning and caught a few. The fish sunday morning were aggressive and hit the jig, only 1 on a set line.

Anybody else get out and have a report?

Fished Ida last weekend and tried out the new fish house. We had 9-11" everywhere we went. Fishing was decent. Caught 8 keepers Friday night and 6 on Saturday night. Lots of small cigars were caught as well. Jiggin seemed to work the best right at sundown and morning hours. Lost a giant at the hole on a dead stick, still sad about it. We slept in the ice house overnight for the hell of it knowing Ida is not the best night bite we did not mark or catch one fish until sunrise. Ice should be getting pretty solid on the main lake after this warm front moves through.

Fished the north End one night by Betsy and the south lake on Saturday. Ice was the same in both spots. I am guessing the main lake has at least 7" or more by now.

Got out this weekend in the middle section of the lake, North of Stoney point. Talk about sloppy. All the snow has melted so there was about 1/2 an inch of water on the lake. There was still about 6-7 inches of ice as of Sunday night, so hopefully with the cold weather it gets back to making some more. There were people driving cars out on the lake Saturday, seemed a little crazy to me. Fishing was spotty, but managed to catch some walleyes and caught a really fat 26 inch picture fish. Anybody else get out?

I fished two different spots this weekend, each having 15" of ice. There were Rangers driving clear across the middle of the lake, and a couple of trucks as well. I didn't have the four wheeler with, and decided to let one more cold snap run its course before going too far out.

I was up last weekend and our group had two full sized trucks on the ice along with a good sized wheelhouse. We measured 16-17 inches of ice.

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
