Heading to Basswood lake first week of September. Looking for info on fishing patterns that time of year. Are the bigger fish generally still deep. Not to concerned about catching smallmouth but looking to target bigger northerns and get into some walleye. Any tips on where to fish and what to use would be appreciated. Driving 20 hours and first time so would like to get a step up. Generally what parts of the lake are most productive? And what should I expect for weather temp

Thanks for any comments

Every fall is a little different as to exact dates, but I like to find current again this time of year. Creeks coming into the lake, etc. Also, I've found that wind into a point or shoreline is again a factor in finding 'eyes.

Thanks for the info. Anybody else. Surely somebody else has an opinion on this lake

Early and late I concentrate on shorelines that have recieved wind. Fore sure if its a island tip or weedy shoreline with a sharp break. When that slows then its mid lake reef or the tip of that island point. If you can find the rock/gravel/muck transition on that windy shore line you should be golden.
