12 volt trolling motor question

cliffy

Question

I have a 12 volt trolling motor on my boat. I recently decided to run two 12 volt batteries in parallel to get longer life....so I bought two identical batteries and I am ready to hook them up. My question is this. My boat only has a single charger. So, obviously, I can only hook it up to one battery. Will it fully charge both batteries or are there going to be any other issues? Thanks.

Cliffy.

You should have no problems with the way you have it hooked up. The charger will still charge the batteries. It may take a little longer than with just one hooked up. I have three in parallel on a charger, and it works fine.

I assume that your charger is an "auto" type charger.

This is the style I have, and all batteries are fully charged when it says it is done. The charger will put the voltage to where it is needed until done.

Way to go getting the second battery, should see a big difference now in your power draw...
