Rainy Lake ice roads

I was wondering if anyone could tell me about the probable conditions of the ice roads (if any) between Christmas and New Years. I want to make a trip fishing pike and walleyes but I don't know how well I can expect to do without and ATV or sled. I'll bring a portable shack, but are there many good spots close to the ice roads on the minnesota side? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Generally there are some roads plowed out to sand bay and american narrows by that time.You can get some good fishing close to the ice roads.

I want to fish the mouth of black bay by the Sha Sha resort, but how could I get out there? Are there any places to park on the side of road or near the resorts that we could walk out from.

The park has a landing right there.
