Sakatah has the weed growth that can support the fish. It seems like there are less carp rolling in the shallows this year.

I will hitting Tetonka this weekend for the first time. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. We like to target anything that swims, so any help would be great.

Thanks in advance.

JBZWART,

There is some mid-lake structure that can hold fish this time of year. Also there are multiple points on the lake that could be good options.

are there any special go to tactics for fishing the slime? will this cut down the visibility on just the surface or does it effect the whole water column. i'd assume go to lindy rigs or small spinners and go slow. i'll be out there this weekend so any info will help, is the river between sakatah and tetonka deep enough or large enough for a pontoon?

The lake is up about 10" from last year at this time, you won't have a problem running the river

Oh yea, it is deep enough. If your Pontoon has a tall sun shade (top) you will have to put it down to get under the bridges. There are pontoons going through that area all the time. There is also a boat landing between the two lakes.

Good News!!!! (for some of us) Muskie signs went up at the access's this last month.....Glad to see it.......I know who else is tickled pink...... smile but when the Walleyes are bigger, and less bait is wasted on sheephead maybe they will understand.

So they officially have started the stocking program on Tetonka? This spring or just recently. What's the schedule going forward? IMO...that's great news!!

great news ! when your panfish population dwindles to almost non existance

and you start seeing forty plus inch muskies float to shore with 20" plus eyes stuck in their mouth you guessed it... great it is!

Instead a bucket of fatheads and shiners it is a hornet here and a hornet there then we'll see how great it is .. when your walking a city block to get to back to the lake after launching then we'll see how great it is

and of course none of those muskie fisherman are gonna take a limit of walleyes home with them either !! been there an seen it happen first hand

alot of land owners where all for it on french also but after they seen what kind of damage they can do spawning gills I seen many get tossed in the weeds. I am no bioligist but I see no value to stocking them in tetonka

kelly dudley would have been a good bet they cant get anything else to grow there ,

I appologize for venting it is just upsetting to what is my favorite lake in southern mn

You need to read the sign. There is pubic comment until the fall of 2010 and then they will decide. Now is the time to write the DNR so we can get this stopped.

great advise I will be doing so

Troutman not really crying about It

I grew up on french during its intro to muskies and fished them alot

seen the affects to the watershed and since have sold all my muskie stuff!

just feel there are better lake choices than tetonka

Luckycrank, I am with you. Who do you write to send your displeasure? Do you have an e-mail address? I could care less about the skies themselves, I don't think they hurt the lake. It is just the pressure from the city boys I am worried about, just like how French gets hammered with the big roar rigs and beating up the weeds all year long.

Take your muskies to a [PoorWordUsage] lake that noone fishes. Kelly Dudley would be fine with me.

I see that the City of Waterville in its minutes a month ago voted to side against the muskie stocking in Tetonka. Right or wrong I don't know.

Believe it or not Kelley Dudley gets fished everyday by multiple boats. I have a good friend who lives on Kelley lake and typically there are 4-5 rigs parked at the launch! Sure K-D may not be known for producing big crappies and gills, but it is a great lake to take kids fishing or swimming. The water quality is great on this lake compared to other southern MN eutrophic lakes. And as far as the size of the two lakes it is obvious this lake could not handle the boat traffic of muskie fisherman.

Ok Madison then ?

Sure! Why not? Works for me, I don't fish muskies! ..... Not sure if this comment was directed towards me?

Yah, Kelley Dudley would not be a very good lake to do that either. It is too small and you are right, it is nice and clean.

Washington or Madison could handle them, but both of those lakes get beat up enough to way it is also.
