Trailer with MN lifetime license traveling through WI & MI

Anyone know if there would be any issues with Law enforcement towing a trailer registered in MN with lifetime registration

through Wisconsin and Upper Michigan ? No plates on the trailer

anymore.

Do not want to take it if there will issues, but it sure would

come in handy for all my extra fishing gear while heading to

Munising,MI for a weeks vacation.

Wasn't a problem in Wisconsin when we got puller over for no trailer lights (someone must have accidentally unplugged it while unloading the boat). As far as Michigan goes I have no idea.

Why would you have a problem? If it is registured and current, which a lifetime reg. would be you should be able to use it anywhere.

I know for sure a snowmobile trailer with the lifetime reg. is legal in MI. A boat would have to be the same. And for WI they don't even need a reg. if the trailer is under 3000 lb.

The MN license plate on the car is honored, don't see why the trailer license/registration would be any different. That it's lifetime makes no difference, IMO, it's still a valid registration in the state of residence/registration.

And, like the vehicle, just be sure you have all valid license, registration, insurance, etc. documents with you, just in case.

Have them with me all the time, I just wondered since the trailer no longer has a plate in the back. Its only a home made utility trailer. Weighs around 350lb empty.

Thanks for the info, was worried I would be targeted for not having a plate on the trailer.

Well you might get stopped but they will see that there's no problem as long as the registration and everything else is OK

I agree with Tom. You should have no issues, worst case you get pulled over, show them the lifetime license and you are good to go.

My rig was pulled through 5 states. Even got pulled over (speeding). No problems (and no tickets!)
