Border Crossing w/DUI

Recommended Posts

My uncle who lives in International Falls was picked up last week by Minnesota State Patrol and given a DUI. I live in Illinois and make several trips to visit him and we venture into Ontario. I was planning on coming up over Memorial Day and head into Ontario, but am not sure what he will need to get paperwork wise to enter.

The various Canadian websites paint a pretty bleak picture, but was wondering if someone on this post could lead me in the right direction.

Thanks

Well if he hasn't been convicted then it should not be on his record yet and you should be good to go this year but after he goes to court then he will have a tougher and more expensive time crossing the border. We had one guy in our group delay his court date until after our fishing trip.....

Once it is in the system, they do not have to grant entry for the first 5 years and they don't have to offer any options to get in. Enjoy this year, he may not be going into Canada for a while after it is all in the computer system.

HI EBB,

THE CANADIAN RESORTERS ARE TRYING VERY HARD TO GET THAT LAW CHANGED AS ITS REAL HURT THEM, AS A GROUP OF GUYS COME & ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE DUI GUY CAN'T GET THRU CUSTOMS., SOMETIMES THE WHOLE GROUP DECIDES TO TURN AROUND. I KNOW ONE FLY IN SERVICE WHO IS 40% FULL, WHEN HE IS NORMALLY FULL BY NOW., OBVIOUSLY SOME OF THIS IS OUR ECONOMY.

SINCERELY,

FISHMEISTER
