Crazy??? Maybe...

Just going to throw this out there. Most will say "no Way" but I have to believe the source.

Son and fiance were fishing east of Vidas yesterday and caught all their walleyes on .....yes, night crawlers. Water is to cold for that, right? I don't know what's up this year but it sure is an interesting spring.

I believe you. Crawlers just aren't for August anymore....

I was just east of Vidas yesterday too. Probably saw them.

Way too much boat traffic for me yesterday. There was no place to fish without company and constant wave action from boats zipping by. Everyone I saw using jig and minnow combo was doing so so. Did see two old boys drift by and put two quick eyeballs in the boat and they were using a presentation most only use in the middle of the summer. Spinners and maybe they had crawlers on them?

Crazy not quite....we were sturgeon fishing with a big bass worm hook, two chunked rainbows then a crawler, then a big lively rainbow at the end with a spray of bass scent. The average walleye size was bigger doing this and produced more than jigging, plus we caught alot of nice sturgies to boot. The trick was the musky tackle and some 65lb test... grin

Crazy, I don't think so. Just something different than everyone else.

We do tons of crawlers late into the fall, just before ice up. They always work. When everyone else is soaking expensive shiners we're boating numbers of walleyes on crawlers. I'd bet you could catch eyes thru the ice on em' if you still had some in your frige in December.
