Well, not a good day Friday. Windy as all heck, and the cold front shut everything down. Not one bite, and we tried pretty much everything, everywhere. Everybody we talked to was in the same boat (so to speak smile ).

Water temps Northend: 55-56

Rest of the lake: 53-54

Hope people do well on opener!

FINALLY got my boat out for the first time this year! Patched up the leaky spots and am happy to report that my boat stayed dry on the inside. Fishing wasn't so good...just a few small bass and pike. Couldn't believe there were so many boats out there on a wednesday. I always use the south launch because it's too shallow for about 95% all other boats, and for the first time in over 10 years I seen other trailers at the lot (4 others to boot). Saw a HUGE snapping turtle slowly swimming around...also saw a blue heron dive into open water, kinda' float for a few seconds, and fly back up with a fish...similar to how an eagle or osprey would, except a little more sloppy. I never knew herons could do that. Anyway, was good to get the boat out before I head up north smile

I have not been on Big Marine yet, but I would assume it like all other area lakes. Bass are starting to progress to the summer pattern and are starting to school up. The last few days have been quite good for me. This was yesterday morning on an area lake. Here is one from yesterday that came off some deeper rock..

Nice fish!

There was a tournament yesterday on Big Marine (what a surprise!). Perhaps one of the participants can tell us how they did.

My buddy at work had a fishing tourney two weeks ago on Big Marine. They took second to last ha. I guess everyone's bags were rather small. I know that they caught a bunch of bass under the 12' range but couldn't find any with real size. Just thought I'd chime in.

I got a cabin on the far shore of the east bay on big Marine so I get a chance to fish the lake around every weekend. I'm only 14 but I've been fishing it for a while. Ive pulled in a couple of BIG bass this summer off of my raft with a spinner, a 4.5 pounder 21 inch, and a 3 pounder 19.5 inch. But you guys are right most bass and pike do tend to run small. Ive had a lot of luck speed trolling around the lone house on the north side of the east bay. Getting a bunch of northern.

Good luck fishing everyone!

Any recent reports? I noticed the launch traffic is pretty steady on weekends still, I plan on heading out this wednesday or thursday depending on weather and am wondering what's working lately...

Taking a co-workers daughter out for the first time and would love to get her fighting a bass or northern, should I be looking deeper or are they hanging shallow? I was able to get into them pretty good in July but have yet to fish this lake in fall temperatures.

Was out on the north launch last weekend (sunday afternoon) to test out my buddy's new boat.

Buddy's dad took the "angler of day" award, catching 4 decent sized northern (mid 20's)

Everyone else had a mixed bag of northern, bass, and sunnies, except me...

I landed one largemouth.

Stuck around edges on the North end, drifted through a bay on the east side... however most fish came on the northwest side on the weedline in 6-10 fow.

This was my first time up at Big Marine... i live in lino, just on the north side of otter lake so I do most of my fishin on WBL or Bald eagle... might have to swing up more often, lots of places to explore.
