Since I'm new to the Bemidji area - and don't have a boat right now(long story) frown I will try wader fishing for walleyes at the Lake Irving landing at midnight and then the Mississippi below the Winnie Dam during the opening day for walleyes - then hopefully have a fresh fish lunch and find a good place to take a nap. Good luck to everyone. smile

I don't think as many people fish on openner anymore. I been fishing the Brainerd lakes area for 27 yrs.

I'll be with governer on White Bear.

I'm staying local....I've got 3 SMALL lakes on the list and might hit 1 or all 3, depending on the bite. I can't stand the crowds on opening day anymore...

Opener was almost 2 weeks ago... for trout. smile

Its an annual pilgrimage I make every year. It is tough fishing those small clear streams, but so much fun to be out and walking the river valleys of SE MN.

Ely, to fish with my son that is going to VCC. He's got the hotspots where there is little pressure. He hooked up a job at one of the outfitters for the summer. He is livin the good life.

LOTW for me.. East side somewhere's most likely. I hope it's icey like last year because that makes for some good fishing if you know where to go and you don't mind the bulk of your catch being BIG Wally's!

Outing area lakes, Roosevelt and Lawerance. The lakes are deep and a little tough to fish, but I've been going there with my buddy and his family for probably 10 years now. We usually muster up enough fish for a good time.
