Some of my best eye spots are sand bars. Eddys, rock bars, points, feeder creeks and holes are all good choices and dont forget about the main river channel. Have found them as deep as 50ft and as shallow as 6in. They go where ever the food is

Findin structure the hard way is sometimes the easyest way. No maps out there for above the st cloud dam and not sure but I dont think there is a map for above sartell either.

The easiest way I know to find them is to cast crankbaits in the fall! grin Pretty much anywhere will do.

If it isn't autumn, just hit current breaks, eddies, deep holes, etc....the stuff you mention in your post.

That being said, I do have a problem finding big walleyes in the river up here. Early in the spring we catch pigs while fishing for carp and suckers, but come June, I have a hard time catching fish over 20''. Then comes September, and a big shallow shad rap certainly finds them.

I feel your pain about not getting huge walleyes out of the st cloud section of river. I cant seem to get one bigger than 28in and usaly only get a handfull bigger than 20in a season. I go north 25-30 miles on the same river and its another story alltogether.
