Ice Reports

Recommended Posts

As long as it keeps freezing at night west lake sylvia will not open up anytime soon. I say at least a week and a half, maybe longer.

were getting closer and closer everyday. I have a feeling all the lakes are going open after the weekend with the weather there talking about!

Somebody on here posted that as of last night Pelican (Wright County) was 95% off. I only live a couple miles from there so I'll be checking it out tonight on the way home. I hope he's right, got a day off tomorrow and want to get the boat in the water. I'll let y'all know what I find out. cool

Was on west sylvia today from 9am til 2pm ice is still 12" thick but only 5" or 6" of good ice on top with 5" to 6" of rotten ice on bottom . Spooky stuff , does alot of creeking , cracking and poping !!!

I saw 2 knuckle-head out on Maple lake today. If you fall through I'll be waving when I drive by.

Pulaski's ice is starting to really honey comb and is very black. It shouldn't be long till I am out there in a boat.

I went to the cabin and seen the ice. The ice is away from the shore by our cabin, but still looks like there is alot of ice on the main lake. Looks creepy!

This is the bait frig at L&M in Virginia, the other day. Also, added Highway 65 bait.

I think electric items have their places, I just don't think large commercial jobs are going to be able to work well with them. Can't see a logging crew out in the woods all day changing batteries!

I agree on the choices.   I didn't mean to say that a battery auger was better or greener or whatever.  I could care less about that.   It just seems that "most" ice anglers have made a switch to a battery auger in recent years.  That's all I was saying.  I know about a dozen people who regularly ice fish and they all have battery augers now.  I bet if you conducted a survey of all ice anglers, the majority would answer that they use a battery powered auger.

Best weed eater I've ever run with great longevity is Echo, I'd check them out

Hey government,  Just give us choices. I don’t care what people use as long as as it works for you. I’m needing a new weed eater. Plan on a Stihl FS 40 easy start. I’m done with the cheaper brands. Just don’t last long enough.  Probably true with the Stormy Daniels of the world as well. Cheaper don’t last long enough 🤭

If you turn on a movie they survive the 20min ride just fine. After many controlled experiments, I've found that they survive much better if you show "Finding Nemo" instead of "Jaws."
