what happened to the crappies

Recommended Posts

I've been out the last two nites and came up with a big fat zero

Not even marking them on the flasher. The ice looks like swiss cheese out there now. Think I'll back off for a few days and hopefully the weather will stabilize and things will improve--dang frustrating

It really depends on the lake most of the lakes I fish barely reach 30. The one I caught some last night on got to 45 and we were catching them in 12 FOW. Other lakes the bite has been in 22, another has been in 16-18. A little shallower than midwinter.

I say go shallow and panman says go deep, so it's obviously a lake to lake deal.

they frustrated me last night, i don't know if it was the weather or what but I got the big "skunk" for crapps, caught a few perch and a couple snake northerns on waxies.

Cold front yesterday shut them down.....out this morning and it was slow.Should pick up the next couple days before the next storm system gets here.

Been clobbering them during the day in 14-18 fow on the edge of standing weeds. It seems that this time of year the night bite tends to slow down some as most of the critters coming out of the mud are slowing down some. The day bites will get better and better. It really depends on the lake, but I would say the bite will get shollower as the season progresses. It won't be long before there aren't many fish left over deep water anymore.
