Open Water?

I am think of getting out and doing some carp and sucker fishing in the rivers and was wondering if the watonwan river around madelia and lake crytal is open and fishable? or if it is possible to get in to some in the minnesota river in new ulm or mankato this time of year?

My son was out this weekend on the Blue earth in Mankato - popped a huge flattie and then almost lost his rod on an iceberg coming by. There is a TON of ice in the river right now - but it should clear out pretty quickly with this weather. I think you could get out. I went by the Blue Earth by the Mountain in Mankato and it looked very clear.

Mongo, thats cool to hook into a flattie this time of year. How big, pictures? I am going to try to get out this weekend, and to some scouting. Maybe toss in a hook.
