Why change party hunting laws?

I don't have the issue in front of me right now but the short version was that there wouldn't be statewide changes. Instead the DNR may try different things in different areas. Specifics weren't given because the ydon't have them yet. There is interest in getting rid of buck party hunting. Seasons may be moved back but there isn't much hunter support. Lou stated that there was actually more interest in AR than moving the season. If a season does get moved it will be in the south. So it sounds like there is a pretty good chance that changed are on the horizon but as always the public will be involved. So whatever side of the fence you're on make sure your voice is heard when the time comes. Lou does say that the DNR's number one priority is population management. Once the DNR gets the populations where they want them then they will work on the social stuff like th enumber of older bucks. The big thing right now is how this winter is going to affect the herd. Especially in the Arrowhead. He stated that there are probably going to be more lottery areas for antlerless permits.

My opinion is that nobody needs to shoot another person's deer. Get rid of party hunting and I do think it would help the buck population immensely.

So Cody, does that same mentality also apply to fishing ?

Once your personal limit is reached, you put away your rod and watch everyone else catch their limits ?

Whoa.  This is a REALLY old thread from 2009.  lol

Once your limit is reached fishing, you can still fish.  You just have to release them.  Once your limit is reached deer hunting, you cannot keep hunting unless someone else has a tag that is hunting with you.  I personally do not like filling other people's tags unless it is a mgmt bonus antlerless tag.  I would never shoot a buck for someone else.  I think they should get rid of party hunting for deer here.  It would immediately increase the average size of bucks by making someone think twice about shooting a small one early in the season.

Don't take me wrong, I'm not anti-technology.  Battery powdered items will always have their place.  I'm mean you don't want your girl friend or wife in the bedroom playing for their gas powered adult toys!!  That would be a bit loud and smokey!

That’s right. My 84 year old dad loves his electric chain saw. Light weight and quiet. Besides, at his age he’s not cutting a bunch. Where as myself I want something with more power and heavier duty.  Look at how many people have switched back to gasoline cars after running one in winter if you travel a lot.   As long as my strike master works I’ll keep using gas. Maybe my next will be electric, but who knows,  you can find used gas ones pretty reasonable as others buy electric.

I think electric items have their places, I just don't think large commercial jobs are going to be able to work well with them. Can't see a logging crew out in the woods all day changing batteries!
