This is awesome news! I had a feeling maybe someone would find that thing, and bother to investigate, ask questions, etc. Excellent. You should drag it back out to the exact spot, and then sit 100' away with shotguns. Well, not shotguns, but cameras and cops or something. I hope you can find the thieves and burn their lawn or at the very least mock them horribly. This message group is a great place to get the word out about this type of thing, we just proved that it worked! Bartman is the man.

Bartman that is unbelievable....you must have a good memory because there is no way I could have remembered all that info the way you did. Way to go man.

Hoggs thats too bad your house got all painted up and trashed like that, hopefully its still in decent shape and most of your stuff is there.

How stupid are these people that they would steal a fish house, put some paint on it and move it to a lake a few miles away from the one they stole it from!! And the lake they move it to is the most popular lake in the area right now. Talk about dumb criminals. (these people are obviously very local) I really hope the cops put in the time and effort to find these people and don't just say here is your house. (I had a sled stolen several years ago and I knew who took it. He was going around town bragging about it and knew specific details about the incident, the tail light was broke off and it was stuck in the railroad tracks. The cops would do nothing about it.) I understand that they couldn't hide in the cat tails and wait for them to come around but maybe they can track down where the paint was bought etc. These clowns need to serve some time and have a felony on their record for life.

I just came across this post - that is pretty cool the house was recovered. Who know if that would have happened without the members of this site. Let us know if the cops ever catch those punks.

Hoggs, post photos of what it looks like now from all sides and the inside once you pick it up.

If I remember correctly it is now Blue with a tan or gray stripe on the sides and White with a Brown stripe on the front and back.

I went to pick up the fish house today and couldn't pick it up yet. It's at the Wright Cty Impound. They're doing some more investigating in the case, so hopefully we can catch them!

I did see it on the other side of the fence though!

Not yet. I'm waiting for the investigator to call back. I'll try on Monday if I don't hear anything.

hoggs222,

In the pictures you have posted, do you know where I can find those bobbers??!! I've been searching around and have had no luck yet. I think they are called the "Peterson bobber" but I'm not sure...

I'm not sure where my Dad got them. We've had them for years. We've only got a few extras left. I'll ask him if he remembers where he got them.

This site is great. Great job guys, this thread reminds me of the one last year where the guys truck was stolen with the American flag bug deflector. If i ever have something come up missing, it will get posted on here first, then I will call the cops.

Well, I picked up the fish house from the impound today. As I was standing there with the officer, I said "I don't even want to know what it looks like in there." His first words were "You don't want to know what it looks like in here!" There was literally garbage everywhere.

The door is worthless. Broken window and completely destroyed. The door is tied nicely with a piece of string so it stays closed. The siding is painted, holes drilled in it, etc. That will also have to be replaced. Paneling is spray painted in a few spots. Heater looks damaged. Nice tear in one of the screens that for some reason they felt they needed to remove from the window.

They even left me with a few of their beer bottle labels stuck to the wall. Oh, and they even ate some of my sunflower seeds that I left in there. Some of them were spit into a beer bottle and some were kindly spit all over the place.

The First Aid kit was opened so hopefully they got hurt! Oh wait, Can we get sued for them hurting themselves in a stolen fish house?

All in all, it basically looks like the frat house from Animal House.

OK, my rant is done.

Is your ins. going to cover it? At least you got it back and you can get it back to the way you want it this summer. When you said how long they had it I was expecting to see some kind of conviction or thought maybe they had prints from them. Why did the cops keep it so long if they weren't working on something?

I'm not 100% sure what the hold-up was on getting it back. It was covered to an extent, not enough though. I'll post more when the case is settled. It's been interesting.

Well, I got some pics. There were other things wrong with it, like where they screwed holes in the siding, etc. This is after the cops went through it and removed lots and lots of garbage.

I have no Idea. They were both smashed, so I threw both of them away. I think they did leave some batteries in there though. Brand new in the package!

These pics were after a lot of the trash was already removed.

Looks like they went to Sherwin Williams store for their supplies by the plastic bag in the pictures...

Glad you got your home away from home back...

Did the cops ever take anything that they touched and fingerprint it? You'd have to believe there was some kind of prints left in there somewhere. Good Job Bartman!

Might not have to wear ear plugs when I mow!      That’s a spendy one.  It wasn’t hard to find one of those for $6k.  Comparatively and Ariens of the same size is $4,200.  A home owner grade JD for $3,900.  You could get into a commercial grade Z700 for maybe $8k.   I think the work I did today with mine would’ve killed that one there.

On the south end...   This year's MN Fishing Opener weekend was not only great weather wise, the walleyes and saugers were caught in good numbers.  A main fish gut hauler working with a number of resorts commented it was one of the most productive opening weekends he has seen based on the amount of fish guts collected after the weekend. The goto presentation was a jig and frozen emerald shiner.  Emerald shiners are a staple in LOW and walleyes love them.  Other minnows worked also, but emerald shiners are a favorite of anglers for good reason.   Four Mile Bay held good walleyes in 12 - 18'.  Not a surprise as the walleye bite on the river during the spring season was good and as of late, sturgeon anglers have been reporting catching walleyes on sturgeon rigs.   The Lighthouse Gap area, Morris Point Gap and just in front of Pine Island held nice fish in 12 - 15'.  Across the south shore, 18 - 22' was holding good numbers as well.  As you can see, there are lots of fish around.     A quarter ounce jig in gold, glow white, pink, orange, chartreuse, or a combo of these colors tipped with a minnow worked well.   As a reminder, the limit of walleyes and saugers is a combined limit of six fish, up to four of the six can be walleyes.  All walleyes between 19.5 - 28.0 inches must be released.  One fish over 28.0 inches can be kept.  The possession limit in MN is one daily limit of fish. On the Rainy River...  Some nice walleyes were caught on the river this weekend, although most anglers hit the lake.  10 - 15' of water was the norm.     Sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River has been excellent.  The catch and release season continues through May 15th and then closes until the keep season starts up again July 1st. Up at the NW Angle...  Some nice walleyes were caught in 18 - 25 feet of water, a little deeper than anticipated.  Points were good as were areas with structure.  The morning and evening bite was best.       As water continues to warm, go to spots for walleyes will be neck down areas, shoreline breaks, points and bays.     The goto presentation was a jig and minnow.
