Crede to Twins?

I think it comes down to one of two things for the naysayers. Either they value the month of October so much for fishing and hunting and don't want to be bothered with the possibility of getting to watch a meaningful playoff series or two or there are those that are only interested in keeping the talent that the organization has drafted and brought along up through the minors. (Not saying there is anything wrong with those philosophies but I like the Crede pickup and the fact that he's got an incentive laden contract.)

lol... seems that a lot of the same people that don't want the twins to waste their valuable Oct. hunting/fishing time seem to also be the same ones content with tjack and the vikings not wasting valuable ice fishing time come January.

Why was a player as good as crede not resigned and left on the free agent market so long?

I don't know how he will turn out with the twins, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I think Sled might be on to something guys. I hate to burst your little "championship dance" but Kenny Williams does not usually leave too much on the table. I love Joe Crede but there comes a time when each player must finally succomb to mother nature and I think Joe's time is closer than all the Twinkie fans think. I will cheer for Joe 144 games this year, I am sure you can figure out which ones! LOL

While Crede was on the market for a while I think it could be attributed to his greedy agent for the initial price tag. Yes, he may be a slight risk health wise but the positives way outweigh the negs here. Once his agent figured out an incentive laden deal was the only way his client could get a contract close to what he was looking for, he was snatched up. I call it good fortune for the Twins that he had a dumb agent. smile

Moving either will be a mistake. I think we have seen how easily players can get hurt -- we are finally deeper and have a decent bench. We can play the "numbers" game and play people against people they can handle.

Gardy might have to have a pencil with an eraser but it will be nice to see us have some options, down 2-1 in the bottom of the 9th with Punto up to bat with two outs.

At least we have options.

Fishy, I take it you think Young will be moved. I think that will happen or Kubel does. But we will get more for Young.

That could go in just about any direction but I don't think Young is going to or should start over the other guys unless Gomez completely falls apart.

I am sure there were concerns about his back. Teams who had a respectable third baseman didn't need to take the chance. The Twins did and played the game well. They had a price they were willing to take a chance at and got it.

Of course it was because of his back. Let's face it, the guy has missed alot of time the last few years because of it. However, considering our other options, he was the best out there. I wanted him more than any 3B(that was available) out there not named Beltre. When healthy, the guy is a highlight real with the glove. He also seems to be the type that wants to be up when the game is on the line and I have seen him kill the Twins and others from the 7th inning on enough to know that he is the guy I want up with the bases juiced when the Twins are down late.

As far as moving Young or Kubel. Those would both be the dumbest moves we could make IMO. They are both young, cheap, and have potential to hit the ball in the seats. Both of them were top prospects in their day. Don't move either until they become unaffordable. You want to move an outfielder, it has to be Cuddy even though his contract makes him almost untradable and I don't wanna let him go either.

My brother and sister inlaw are big White Sox fans. Crede is their favorite player. They are not liking this deal at all.

I hope Crede works out, but I'll still be the pres of the Buscher fan club, as sid would say Mark my words.... grin

yep, who was that drawing the 3rd walk of the bottom of the 9th then coming around to score the winning run? laugh As pres. of the fan club, just had to point that out LOL

Crede has been a joke thus far. way to many K's. Better lineup in CHI he had,, his AB have been bush league thus far.

Still, way to early.-- he will likely hit a big GS sometime.

Crede will come around. It's only been 3 games! Besides, I cringe every time buscher attemps a throw to first from third. Quite a few seem to sail on him!

Good thing to remember...he was out almost all last year. It will take a little while to get going..Also, his life time batting average is not that great, just his dingers and rbis.

and his defense, which I think is why the Twins went after him, along with a little more power.

some people just look at offense. I like to look at defense, offense and power. He pretty much has all 3. The offense has not started but it will come around.

First at bat against the pale hose and gone to the music of air supply. He will be fine as long as the back holds out.

Now I have heard a lot of chatter about Twinkie fans not being happy with Crede and wondering if his back will hold out, I am a fair guy so I am proposing a trade back to the Pale Hose, we will take Joe off your hands so you don't have to worry and we will send you a World Series complete game winner in Jose Contreras. Sound good to you guys. We can complete that deal today and Joe can just stay here and Jose can jump on the plane with the Twinkies!

Nah, we'll keep Crede :), I've always liked this guy...hated watching him bat against the Twins in the past!

Do you hear that, Twinkie fans? I can swear I hear Meat Loaf singing in the background. What is he singing? Ah yes, CAUSE TWO OUT OF THREE AIN'T BAD! LOL

I thought it was really funny when they played Air Supply, I'm All Out of Love, when Crede came to the plate for the first time! Joe is looking good, he should do you well as long as the back holds up.

Good series, we took a pounding and then delivered two poundings. Probably get the opposite in the Baggie Dome.

Gonna be a long but fun year, I predict!

I wouldn't say 50% of the time but I think he deserves more time than he's getting.

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
