What are the best settings to view the thermocline? I have a Lowrance Elite 7, new last season. I've played with it a little bit but didn't have much luck showing the definite line.

Turn up gain.

Lowrance's are like I Phones....I don't and haven't taken the time to even learn how to turn them on.

Spent the day with my daughter fishing. Being boatless this season we started on the shorelines. My daughter got this from Roberds PA.

Buddy called and had an hour to kill with his boat, so we put the smack down on these dandy's.

Those that know me..I am not a bass guy. But pulling in 2 to 4 lbs fish on a 5'4" ultra light and 4lb test is a BLAST!

Fished Kelly-Dudley last night. Not much action from all the recent storms but was still good to get out.

I was on Roberds yesterday morning/mid day. Started out trolling cranks, then switched to pulling spinners with nothing to show for it. Then I started fishing with a slip bobber and leaches right on the weed edge and CPR'd a 30 inch pike. Also caught 2 walleye 18 and 15 inch. I guess they wanted a slow presentation.

Was on German last week. Trolled around several spots and tangles with one northern and a bass. Weedlines were tough to follow and the depth of them were very sporatic. Seen some marks on the weed edge and found out they were sheep head suspended in 16' flow down 7' plain hook under a slip worked wonders. full-24389-47042-img_20140625_145057_229

Hit the lake yesterday for gills and it was slooooow. Started again this am and on the lake at 5:30. Should have had a limit of eyes but ended up with 5 nice eyes from 15.5-17. Then I worked an area for some slabs and boated a nice mess of 12-13 crappie.

Walleyes were approx. 15fow and crappies I boated pretty shallow at 12fow.

Out deep, fished were stacked in 30 plus fow but no takers there.

Overall, a great morning on the water and the weather was as good as it could have been.

Yu betcha Dano, go out an boat some of those crappie, caught them close to the same area I boated those eyes. Just a little shallower to the point and out a bit. You may have to put up with a few of those eyes you talked about where I boated the crappie.

Fished Mazaska last night with the girlfriend in a boat with no trolling motor so we ended up just anchoring up and throwing the splash brights out. Used a small jig with a crappie minnow and tried two different spots, both no luck. Trolling is the key wink

Tired tetonka this morning, found fish on the transition from mud to sand. Few biters, missed all my chances.

I got on the water around 7:00 this morning and found walleyes a lot shallower than expected for the time of year and water temps. The surface temp was around 77 and my plan for the day was to troll starting shallower and working deeper as the sun got higher. I marked fish in 8' so that's where I started. I kept working deeper eventually switching over to leadcore with nothing to show for it. I was doubting they would be in shallow with the high temps, but figured I had to give it a shot since I didn't have any luck deeper. I scoped out the first area with side imaging and quickly dropped the Terrova. About 8 casts later a 17" walleye hit the net out of 4' of water. From 11:30 to 1:00 I picked up 4 more and lost a few. Then the sky cleared and the bite died. After that I poked around a few more spots with nothing to show for it so I pulled the plug as the recreational traffic picked up.

The fish are shallow right now...follow the baitfish and catch fish!

TONS of baitfish and newly hatched youngsters hanging right at shore or around any cover they can find...all of it shallow or weed producing areas.

Fish around here don't go deep in the hot summer months...they get up into cover and fill their guts!!

Fished cedar lake today for bass. Had two misses on Texas rig, two hits and two misses on a frog and one on a spinner. Tough getting them in today. All were tucked up close to shore along weed beds.
