Aqua Vu Scout Problem

Question

Posted

My Aqua Vu Scout is no longer working. It's two years old and has only been used a handful of times. The camera seems to be powered, seeing as the battery is fully charged, all cables are plugged in correctly, and the red light turns on the monitor. However, I get no picture at all. I thought that in the past a green light on the monitor would come on, not a red one.

Either way I talked to Aqua Vu support and they said they believe it's a faulty monitor... but I don't want to spend $50 on a brand new monitor if that's not the problem.

Any ideas/suggestions/comments?

Try a different battery. Even tho your battery seems fully charged it might not handle the load anymore.

Mike, look into the end of your camra and see if it is cloudy, or has water in it. If so it shorted out! Happened to me twice! mad

I'll take a look at that. Leech what did you do after it shorted out? Get a new camera cable?

First try a new battery, they are cheap and you can always use extra.. next take an rca jack and plug your unit into your tv and see if you see an image.. if you see an image, its your monitor, if you dont it could be your camera...

Hi,

Same thing happen to me. Aqua Vu support told me the same thing. They acted like it was a common problem with the scout. I upgrade to the XL for $75(I think). bNb

mike, I actually had it repaired twice, once by them because it was under warranty and then the second time I paid. When it happened again I threw it in the trash and got a different off brand camra from the Pro shop on hwy 65 which I have had for 3 years now. I think I posted this on another tread that it was not that the camra leaked but the metal braided wire on the inside pokes little holes in the rubber cover and the water leaks down through the cord into the top of the camra and gets inside of it that way. They told me they were working on a way to fix that issue, but I wasn't going to wait for them to fix their problem. cry

Hey Gents.. I am new here... is it inappropriate to state that I am interested in buying dead Aqua Vu systems? The new cameras are just over a hundred bucks now- don't put a lot into trying to fix old ones..

Red light on for the monitor, and the green light means your LEDs are on on the camera. Should be 2 seperate lights, in 2 seperate areas

If the scout has a video out just plug it into any tv that has a video in. If it all works then that pinpoints the monitor is the problem. Just replace it with any 12V TV and your set.

Could be the internal fuse.

That happened to mine last year.

$5 at a local tv repair shop.

The other weak link with the Aqua Vu stuff is that black plastic screw-twist connector that has all the pins in it-- that connector freq. goes bad. Aqua Vu charges 45$ plus shipping to replace the connector.

You can buy pretty decent new underwater cameras for just over 100$ (I would not get a fish tv, perhaps another scout).

Dead Force,

you are right with the connector from the camera to the switchboard mine went out and twisted of the wire, so I took it apart and am going to resolder the wires. Now I just need nature vision to call me back and tell me what color wires go to what number on the connector.

Does anyone know what color goes with what number on the connector?

Anybody know the color to number combinations?

When I'm up there NO unless I change lakes.    When we leave we take them off and reset them up next time up. We only have 4 X 6 collapsible houses.

Do you take the house on and off every time you go?  I hate finding surprises when you come back to the lake.

We got 3 inches. I set up my spearhouse on Tuesday afternoon and it was windy as all get out y the house then to . I had a bank by the house then also with a small one inside my house 🙄   I was off the lake before it got bad yesterday

The wind must have been the killer. I know we got some wind down in Sartell but nothing or snow like you must have.

I don’t know what smurfy saw but they predicted 1-3 for Winnie and it was a whiteout Saturday around Noon when we moved.  Our new spot I set the house on about a half inch of snow and this morning the littles where checking out the drift.  The one by the truck was another 9 inches or so higher.

Dang, what kind of snows did you guys get up there?  Most we got is already melting?

Fish were a little finicky for us.  I don’t know if was the weather (almost hurricane wind it felt like!) or the fact the crowd reached our preferred area.  Houses were on our best spots by Noon on Friday.  Our friend was there earlier any by the time we got there around 8pm, even the cyber scouted spots were taken.     Friday night’s spot was OK for slot walleyes but mostly 9 inch perch.  The move away from the crowd got us into better perch, up to 12 inches, and a few keeper walleyes and one big pout.   Really let the grandkids try to run their own rattle reels and they lost a lot of the jumbos on the Sat evening bite, which was chaos for almost 90 minutes.  They got a better hang of it by this morning but we didn’t have as many jumbos come through.

We didn’t get off the lake until 1pm.  The roads were in good shape by then.  A little sloppy on the edges but almost completely dry on the southbound side.   I’d say your zones are about right.  North of 210, then 200, then 2.  All unique and a little more sketch the further north you go.
