rosencopter to the rescue!!!!

only difference there is with our defense and the way he dominated the colts he wouldn't of had to be fighting for a 1st down to seal the game...it was some of the worse turn of events i've ever seen though forsure.....the luxary here is all he would of had to do is hand off to AP and chester the second half of that game and we would of rolled the colts by 21.

its time we hand the keys of this ferrari over to someone else and see what they can do...look what old gus the bus did and he can barely even move with pads on.....junkson took the keys a few times and couldn't even get out of the driveway!!

A league source tells us that receiver Percy Harvin has agreed to terms with the Minnesota Vikings.

Per the source, it's a five-year deal.

Harvin, the 22nd overall pick in the draft, was regarded in some circles as a potential top-ten talent who slid due to among other things reports of a positive marijuana result at the Scouting Combine.

Booty should win the job by default...at least he's young and we all know he can at least play and excel at the major college level. He can't really be that far behind the other two goofs can he??

"Return man. Slot. A little bit in the backfield,” Harvin said. “The motions. The screens. I’m looking to be all over.”

The Vikings threw him right into the mix on Sunday, giving him some time with the No. 1 offense during a goal-line installation and running reverses, catching passes and fielding kickoffs.

“He’s playing big, he’s playing fast, making turns like on the drop of a dime,” tight end Visanthe Shiancoe(notes) said, “and he’s catching everything.”

I heard that tavaris and sage both look awful so far, this is not good.

Sage is looking quite good today. He has thrown several excellent passes including a BOMB for Touch-Down.

Granted there is nothing ANY QB in the league could do here to appease the redundantly closed minded whining fan base... but it does appear Sage is feeling and looking more comfortable today!

its all about learning the plays and learning the speed of his teammates...timing is important in the NFL.

If you have the mechanics of your possition down, you should be able to step into a team and learn the program during camp and pre-season. I hope he keeps doing better and proves to be a worthy QB.

It should be easy for both quarterbacks to learn the playbook. From what I can tell over the past couple of years, it is only about 9 plays deep. And when I say deep, I am certainly not referring to any pass patterns in said playbook, as all of the pass patterns seem to be limited to no more than approximately 8-yards.

Run on first down, run on second down, then run some 8-yard curls and outs on 3rd and 7. I don't care what QB you put in, if you are going to stick him with that scenario week in and week out, he is not going to succeed.

Open up the %&(#!%)& playbook so we can finally make a determination on T-Jack. It is not against the rules to throw the ball on first down once in a while, nor is it against the rules to run a pass pattern deeper than 11 yards.

exactly. while t-jack is to fault some, its 70% chitty playcalling. have some creativity. keep the defense guessing. throw a trick play in there, they stack the box for run huck it downfield to open things up a bit. like stated above its run run pass punt. run run pass punt, then maybe AP will break for a TD, and if he doesnt, maybe the D-fense with score us some points, then special teams will give them right back on the ensuing kickoff.

in my eyes 2 major factors that could boost our game:

-better/more creative playcalling

-improved special teams play. (field position, you're not going to win games starting on the 20, and your opponent starting in field goal range)

the play calling isn't that bad if you can look at film or pay attention to routes....the reason it looks like the same plays is because junkson throws it to the safety valve all the time....when gus came in it all of a sudden looked like we opened the playbook and were looking for recievers downfield when in reality they were the same plays gus was just goin for it a bit....even though he was still weak.

i think with a decent qb we'll be a pretty exciting offense....i think percy is gonna help out with that alot....another reason why we never totally open it up is because we are always in such a tight game its like 1 mistake and we lose.

i bet our offense would of been really fun with favre even though it would be the same playbook and calls....its gonna be way more fun with sage then it was with gus and junkson also.

Did anybody ever think that they can't open up the playbook because Tjack isn't capable of handling any more than what they've already put in.

The playbook is and has been open. It's T-Jacks slow progression reads that make our offense look, well, offensive!! That's exactly why this experiment HAS to be over. The offense (q-back) can never generate enough downfield plays to keep 8 out of the box. Chilly, no matter what you think of him, is not calling the 2-4 yard outs that our q-backs continue to throw. It's the checkdown or safety-valve once options 1-3 are covered. Brad Johnson simply couldn't make the throws anymore and he knew it...that's why he checked down so much. T-Jack simply can't or won't go beyond his #1 option and then checks down or scrambles.

This would have be fun with Favre.

The NFL has disapproved Percy Harvin's rookie contract with the Vikings.

Harvin might miss a practice or two Wednesday if the Vikings can't get the problem resolved. He signed a five-year deal with a base value of $11.05M Sunday, but the structure violated the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

According to coach Brad Childress, the "sky's the limit" in terms of finding different ways to get the ball in Pervy Harvin's hands.

"We're going to throw a ton at him," Childress said. "We're trying to really immerse him." Childress compared Harvin's potential role to that of a young Brian Westbrook. "From the I-back, to the split-back, to the single-back, to the wing, to the mid-spot, to all the way out and everywhere in between, I think we can do some of those things with Percy," said Childress. Harvin is going to test Chilly's reputation as a play-caller lacking in creativity.

When ahve they tried to open it up? ? ? He should be coached and developed to do this. thats what coaching is, find you players talent level, and work with it, handing the ball off and running short pattern pass plays is limiting your player. theres two parts to that equation. have a coach that doesnt challenge and develop a player they are goign to plateua at a lower level than their are capable of. not saying its not t-jacks fault, im faulting both of them, t-jack just takes the brunt of it.

If they would come out on a first and 10 and take a look downfield instead of run, run, run, run, run, every first down things might happen.

An example. first offensive play EVERY game. run. EVERY game. that playcalling is setting us up to fail. get creative. There needs to be a balance there and there isnt, and that my friends comes from the coach long before t-jack has an oppurtunity to suck it up

Since when does a QB check down or make run-reads when it's a running play or check down when it's a screen.

Our offense early on with T-Jack, even in the Indy game was run-run-run and pass only when it was apparent we had to pass, even then we still ran smile

On the few passing plays that were called sure he checked down some and he made some good downfield plays as well. Maybe he should have gambled more...that's coaching guys. Unfortunately the pass plays were far and few between.

I've done my part to lower the lake level by pressure washing my dock all the way up to my upper deck. I figure that lowered Vermilion by at least 1/4" lake-wide....

On the south end...   This week was a great week of walleye fishing on Lake of the Woods.  In addition, saugers, jumbo perch, some monster pike and an occasional crappie in the mix!     There are three fishing techniques being used to score Lake of the Woods gold (walleyes).  First, drifting or slow trolling crawler harnesses.  In a nutshell, using about a 2 ounce weight and a 3-4 foot harness with a spinner, two hooks and a crawler.     A tip for crawler harnesses, hook the dark part or head of the crawler on the front hook.  Try to keep the crawler straight between the two hooks.  Try to leave a few inches of crawler off of your last hook and pinch off the rest.  The walleyes and saugers will still hit it, but you will create more hookups.   The second presentation is a jig and minnow or frozen emerald shiner.  Basically locate fish out on the mud or on structure, anchor up and jig.  If you are amongst fish, they will find you.     The third way walleyes are being caught, and some may be surprised about, is trolling crankbaits.  Some have put on the trolling gear when the walleyes weren't as cooperative or when the fish are spread out.  Lots of success catching good numbers of walleyes and good sized fish.     Lots of fish out over deep mud or deep structure.  The deep mud is holding a lot of walleyes in 21' - 27'.  Electronics will help you mark fish.     There is another shallow water bite still taking place anywhere from 5 - 17'.  Much of the shallow bite has to do with feeding opportunities on various minnow spawns, crawfish and hatches.  Not every walleye is targeting the same prey.  Lots of opportunities.  .   Gold, orange, chartreuse, glow and pink, or a combo of these colors, are a great place to start.   Anglers can keep a combined limit of 6 walleyes and saugers.  Up to 4 can be walleyes.  All walleyes 19.5 - 28.0 inches must be released.  One fish over 28 inches may be kept.  The possession limit in MN is one day's possession.  If you catch a limit, eat some fish and freeze a couple, make sure to count your remaining fish left over for your possession.   On the Rainy River...  With some rain in the area, the river was flowing with a strong current and some debris this past week.  Debris has slowed considerably and water clarity is starting to improve.     Water clarity is important for walleyes, saugers, pike and smallmouth bass.  Sturgeon are much more dialed into scent to find their next meal, consequently, when the sturgeon season opens again on July 1st for the keep season, things should be good.   The fishing happening on the river is focused in areas just out of the current.  Most fish will hang just off, able to grab a passing meal but not having to expend too much energy.  Current can be good as it focuses fish in areas.   Jigging with a minnow is effective when you are on fish.  Otherwise, pulling spinners and trolling crankbaits along shoreline breaks against the current in 6 - 12' of water is producing a mixed bag of walleyes, saugers, pike, smallmouth bass and an occasional crappie.  Up at the NW Angle...  Fishing for a variety of species has been excellent and is in full summer swing up at the Angle.   For those fishing out of the NW Angle, both the Minnesota and Ontario waters of Lake of the Woods are producing a number of nice walleyes.  Many fish have slid off onto deeper structure.  With that said, there are so many areas of forage on LOW, walleyes will be in numerous spots, some shallow and some deeper, taking advantage of opportunities.  Lots of fish to be had, just go fishing.   Jigging structure has been effective.  When fish are a bit spread out, pulling spinners with crawlers or trolling crankbaits is catching a lot of fish.     In this part of the lake, expect to catch walleyes, saugers, pike, jumbo perch, crappies, pike and smallmouth bass.   Muskie anglers are after it and reporting good numbers, and in true LOW style, some big fish over the 50 inch mark.  Summer patterns are starting to take hold, but fish are holding in a variety of areas still.

We got .5” last night. Hasn’t affected the lake level yet. It’s been steady the past three days here (Frazer Bay). RLG

Water Levels I believe are now at a record high with all the rain last week, and more fell last night.  I hope it stops raining soon for all the people who have businesses and live in the area.  Water can do so much damage.

MarkB, Where did you find the perch?  I would love to get into some of those.  MarkB are you fishing more on the east or west end?

Where are the water temps now with all the rain?  Coming up for a week on Friday and want to see what I can find out.  I have had a very poor fishing so far this year.  New to the area and just can't figure it out.  Home is on the west end of big bay.
