fished all day and night till midnight bite was slow and crappies we caught were all small 22 fow. At 6pm I caught a 25" Walleye that looked like it was about to die and really skinning. It was really white in color and had shankers all over its body. The left eye was all messed up. I am not sure how to insert pics on this forum or else I would include it. Took the pic and released. I hope all the walleyes are not like this or a disease is not hitting the lake again. anybody else see fish like this at all in this lake?

All the eyes I have seen too have been beauties. Many large walleys coming out of clear lake this year. Hey HJ you catch that nice eye on waseca. I have caught a few 25 inchers, and saw a few bigger ones caught by friends. The sunny have been biting in 18 ft of water on grubs. A few nice keepers, but many small one along with tiny perch.

Hey WHERES THE FISH I have been catching sunnies in approx 18 feet of water on the north end that are average eaters. The crappies have been biting on a swedish pimple with no minnow. Crappies that i have been catching have all been suspended around 10 to 12 feet of water in the 18 ft hole. Dont even try to catch crappies during the day. You wont have any luck. Crappies are moving in pretty late in the evening right now.

maybe try to get away from the wife one of these nights and give it another try by myself...about how far out is the 18' area? I went straight south and a lil west of the north landing guessing I should have went east and out a touch more...

I've had real good luck with the cold weather Power Pro. Works just as well I know but that color's what sold me. It's jumped up in price almost double but it's worth it. Only disadvantage is that it does stain easily in dirtier lakes.

went out tonight till about 10 and only one small 9 inch eye. went on from the north end and went east in about 16 feet of water but everything was slow and every bite was light. Is the action better if you go west from the north access? anyone with some info they want to release i would like to here it. you can e-mail them to me if you feel better about it that way. thanks to everyone who responds. bigeye, that sounds right about the same area that im at. i plan on pulling the house a little farther south in the next few days though...have seen alot of guys pulling there houses from the west to the east so im thinking the bite is no better over there than the east side, just my $.02

went out again last night and moved to the west end strait out from the north landing in about 16 FOW and caught a mess of small perch no bigger than 6 inches and a few smaller crappies. Not a single eye and we fished from about 2 until 10. where do we go from here to find a few of them elusive eyes!!!

Moving my house off of the south end on Saturday. From the others who have been out to the lake alot, how about some input. I want to stay away from the north end "town of houses" and was thinking going more into deeper water towards the center. I will do ice checks before i move as I know the center was the last freeze. What are your guys opinion? I am in about 12-13' now and would like to get to 20 or more. Just want to catch fish. i dont really target any thing, but i do like pike, maybe deeper wont be as good for that!!

I will let you and everyone else know what I find. I plan on walking and drilling to check depths of ice and water before i do the move. Wish me luck, maybe for once i will find the next "hot spot" !!!!

thats great to hear regarding the lake levels!!!!!!

On an off light precipitation today. Hoping the weather this weekend will be nice so I can get out and crappie fish and check the weather. My yard has standing water and the driveway is a mess. Lot of lakes are near standard water levels which is good. Heard they are done stripping eggs on cut foot. Shaping up to be a good opener. Last year fished open water 60+ days and 28 different lakes. Hopefully bump both those numbers up this year

I don't think its 100% accurate, you are just relying on other average joes to report precipitation. But I think most numbers there are right in the ball park, especially when you see consistency among multiple reports in a general area.   It's probably more accurate than what the weather terrorists say on the news  which usually only reports metro areas. cocorahs is good for getting rural area reports you just might not have as many reports to go off of

Thanks Mike.  I've been looking at bags of it for years but never wanted to chance wasting good meat on it.  I have a gas and charcoal grills, but really love the flavor of charcoal over gas. Most of the time it's if we have time to use one or the other.

On the south end...   The big open water, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  The bays and tributaries of LOW such as Zippel Bay, Bostic Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  The lake is in good shape for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. The many bays and backwaters of the lake have been receiving attention from spring pike anglers.  Some pike have already entered the bays, spawned and gone back out to the lake, but there are still a pile of fish to be had.   The pike season on LOW is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one fish allowed more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. On the Rainy River...  Another great week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  The bite has been very good and lots of fish of all sizes are being boated.     Sturgeon are being caught from Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River all the way to Birchdale, about 42 miles.  There are many boat ramps along the river to make life easy.  Starting from the east going west...   -Nelson Park at Birchdale (About 30 miles east of Baudette) -Frontier (9 miles west of Birchdale) -Vidas (Near Clementson Rapids) -Timbermill Park (East Baudette) -Peace Park (International Drive, Baudette) -Wheeler's Point (mouth of Rainy River)  The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Up at the NW Angle...  The Angle is ice free.  Resorts are gearing up for the fishing opener which is expected to be excellent.  The late ice bite was very good and the walleyes are in good numbers amongst the islands area of the NW Angle.

Charcoal Briquettes are great for low and slow cooking as they produce long-lasting heat. Lump Charcoal burns hotter and adds more flavour to your food; therefore is great for hot and fast cooking.
