Hawkeye43 asked how big the females get around here. Well, here's this past Saturday's catch 26.5 lbs on my digital scale, 42-43 inches (I only had a 36 inch tape)

When I saw that fish, I just chuckled, I just had to ask a question like that. Now tell me that you were calm, cool and your heart wasn't beating a 100 mph. That's a very nice fish. One more question, Did come into the red & white decoy??? wink

nine tine that's a monster. how often to you sick monsters like that.

That is my personal best to date. I've seen one or two like that for the last three years, but either cannot get a good shot or, I hate to say this, but last year I missed. It was a steep angle shot, and I just scraped scales. I guess you could say that I was a little rattled. This years fish had a white left eye, which the fish from the other years didn't have, so I'm still looking.

I got this 34" girl yesterday morning. She came in to one of my spoons and sat right under my other decoy not giving me a shot until she turned to leave. This is the first fish I have speared in almost a month, but it makes all the work and patience worth it.

Here's half of my block from Sunday, just prior to it going back in the lake. 36" by far the thickest I have cut. It was quite the struggle to pull up and bent my chisel levering it back into the drink.

That's a lot of ice.

Thanks. The skinny pike is my very first dark house pike. This is kind of my son's gig. He was interested so I helped him get into it. Today I got a turn with the spear I made for him a couple years ago.

dam that was fun!

Here are some photos of setting up and such, I have a nice photo sequence of my son's pike coming up on the spear, which I think are a little nicer than the off the spear pics but I know the forum rules so...

Nice work thats great! I just got my house back out on Sakakawea for the year. Water is a little murky right now, visibility only about 5 feet. Only saw 1 pike ~4lbs

My oldest son is back out there again today. I wish the clouds would clear off for him, some bright sunshine sure wouldn't hurt.

Table is updated below.  Opening day is likely in jeopardy.  Lots of good dates available for those sitting on the sideline.

That's ok, got the Bear hunting out of my system years ago.  Still have some good spots on the GPS up in the Arrow head!  Did love me some good greasy bear roasts though!  😋

Yes, I'm on the West End.  No crappies yet, but I caught a couple of Cisco's and some perch this morning. Been dealing with chores at the cabin since 10 AM, so not much fishing.

10 inches of snow in cook this morning. 53 was pretty messy

Hard to tell exactly how much snow the way the wind was blowing it around, close to that I'll bet!  3 sleds went by earlier. Brian, are you on the west end? Did you fish?  Catch any crappies?

I was on the lake this morning. There is still a lot of ice. I went down to the housing on my auger a couple of times.  I'm not sure how much snow we got yesterday and last night but it looks like around 7 to 8 inches at least.

This is going to slow things down!
