No Packer game today so what's everyone watching? I gotta watch Favre today even though it is against the Chefs.

Nice little game with the undefeated Titans...took em to overtime.

Could be a tough run on the Packer's schedule...Vikings away, Bears at home, at New Orleans, and then hosting Carolina.

And....the Vikings have GB at home, at Tampa, at Jacksonville and then Chicago at home. That will be tough with or without he Williams boys!

Can't believe the Lions blew that game today, thought we would have a 3 way tie.

OK, maybe I can believe they blew it, but still- they had a decent lead. Plus Orton got hurt.

I would love to see the Lions be the first winless team ever.

Might have happened, but with Culpepper, they might get 1 or 2

Vikings/Packers week and you guys are talking about the Lions?

Childress said Jared Aleen re-injured his shoulder and might not play, any truth to that or is he just blowing smoke?

If his right arm were to get completely torn off his body, he still plays. I don't think he would have been able to brush his teeth with his right arm towards the end of Sunday's game, but his left arm had no problem registering another sack.

Well, this just sucks:

Quote:
Linebacker Nick Barnett is out for the season with a torn knee ligament, Coach Mike McCarthy said today at his press conference.

Barnett was hurt in Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings. The Packers lost the game, 28-27.

Surgery has not yet been scheduled.

Barnett, 27, was a first-round pick in 2003 from Oregon State. He was named a Pro Bowl alternate last season.

The loss of Barnett will have a big impact on the Packers' defense. Running back Adrian Peterson had 124 of his 225 total yards from scrimmage after Barnett left the game.

Going into this season, Barnett had missed only two games as a Packer.

That is unfortunate. He definately keeps that D together out there. Hate to see a great player go down like that.

I thought Hawk looked pretty good at ML yesterday. Maybe Barnett will be moved to the weak side when he comes back next season.

Anyhow, pretty good job by the defense of the O-line against a pretty good Bears team.

If the season ended today (I always love that one) the Pack would be NFC North Champions once again.

The next divisional game for Green Bay will be against Chicago at Soldier Field, so that could be a big game if their records are still equal at that time.

Lot of football to be played yet.

how embarrassingly bad will the NFC North champion get defeated in the first round of the playoffs?

if i had to pick, i think Green Bay will escape with the title. the bears get lucky to often, and the vikings have played through most of their "easy" portion of the schedule. Green Bay has the easiest road ahead.

I think Ryan Grant is going to blow up the remainder of the season. He did the same thing last year. Schedule isn't too bad for him either. Lots of running in December at Lambeau.

I'm glad he's on my H2H roster.

I think we need to see a lot of Grant this week to keep the ball out of Brees' hands. He's been averaging 325 yards per game and is on pace to set a new record for passing yards in a season.

The Saints have the #1 offense but their defense is ranked 25th. Should be a shoot out. The over/under is 52, I think I'd go over.

What a poor showing by the pass defense last night just aweful amd it was a hard game to watch. Hopefully they can turn it around against Carolina but I have a bad feeling about that game also.

GO BEARS THIS WEEKEND!!!!

He's better than anything the Vikes can put on the field.

I love the Packer backers new mantra. No longer do we hear, "at least we won a Super Bowl", but now it is, "our quarterback is better than yours". How many times have we hear that recently? We pick on the Packers and the comeback is Ferotte sucks.

I like Rogers. I think he will be good to great before he is done. I like the way he laid the hit on the DB last night after that pick. It showed toughness, hustle, and that he had the brains to recognize he outweighed the guy by 40lbs and could afford it. Outside of that, the Packers have been horribly inconsistent much like our Vikes.

Maybe the best part for some people is Rogers has taken a 13-3 team and turned them into a 5-6 team so far. Favre has taken a 4-12 team and turned them into a 8-3 team. If you backed keeping Rogers it must have you wondering, what if. If you, backed keeping Favre it must have you wondering, what if.

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
