broken st.. croix rods

jeff91082

Question

I have a coupele of St. Croix premiere spinning rods. I was told that you can send them to St. Croix and they will replace them. Any ideas if this is true and how to go about doing this?? I also have a G-Loomis that is broken and heard you can do the same with them.

I think the Premiers have a 2 yr warranty, where you can send them back for repair or replacement. The Avids and above, have the lifetime warranty. They may still repair or replace them for a fee, but you will have to call them. Their number is on their website.

Also, you may have had to register your rod. How old are your poles?

I think all the Loomis rods have a lifetime warranty. Check out their respective websites for all of the details.

Personally I've haven't had a need to send mine in yet, but I do know the Premiere's don't come with a lifetime warranty.

One of mine went into the garbage.

I think I had to pay $10 shipping and send it to St.Croix they relplaced my rod for no extra cost. Took about 10 days, I have done it 2 times!

This is from the St. Croix web page...

SILVER STAR SERVICE PLAN

The fact that you’re reading this probably means you’ve got a damaged rod. Rest assured that our goal is to get you fishing with it again as soon as possible. Now, if you’re convinced that our error led to its demise and you know the warranty has not expired, then our Silver Star Plan is your best solution. Here’s how it works.

1. Write a note explaining the problem. Send the note, a check for $20* and your entire rod to St. Croix. We suggest using our Discount Shipping Program, which is described elsewhere on this page.

2. If your rod was damaged due to faulty workmanship, then of course we will cover the cost of the repair or replacement during the warranty period.

3. However, if evidence indicates that the damage is due to an accident, normal wear or neglect, then we’ll advise you of the additional cost to repair or replace your rod.

* The $20 charge applies to USA and Canadian customers, only. The charge for shipments to all other countries is $30.

GOLD STAR SERVICE PLAN

Ahh..but what if you’re not registered as the original owner of the rod. Or your buddy stepped on your rod, or slammed it in a car door, or worse yet, used it to free a snag. No worries. St. Croix’s Gold Star Plan eliminates the uncertainty of a dubious warranty claim. Here’s what to do.

1. Return your damaged rod to St. Croix. Use our Discount Shipping Program to save money.

2. Include a note requesting our Gold Star Service, along with a check for $50 to cover the repair or replacement of your rod. Our Technician will determine whether to repair or replace your rod keeping in mind we’ll only repair it if we can make it perform like new.

3. That’s all there is to it. And there’s no additional s&h charge for customers in the USA. Canadian customers must pay an additional $20 for s&h, and all other International customers must pay an additional $30 for s&h.

You can also drop them off at Thorne Brothers and they can fix them for relatively cheap depending on the problem. They have St. Croix blanks there in stock.

I went fishing with my old man and we caught and released a few fish. Next time I will have to hit my normal lake.

Crow Wing County - abiding by the rules.   Part of the problem with our land is that it IS the food for the area.  The oldest woods around with lots of oaks.  Plenty of does and a few yearling bucks during the day with occasional glimpses of adult bucks.  Otherwise the adult bucks are night visitors without the rut it seems.   If I didn’t have cameras I would be questioning if there was anything to even bother trying for without a doe permit.   Not complaining - just getting to know what’s going on better.

Thought you got some of your own land a year or two ago?  Aren't those bushels of apples working?

Haha - nope!  Still been chasing those deers!  I was super glad to have a doe donated to us by my buddy last week so we had something, but really wanted a second.  Plus there’s that piece where a guy just wants to fill a tag himself!   Pic is in moose’s thread.   A friend in the area heard my shot yesterday.  He came to help with the recovery (low blood to start and it got dark). As soon as we got done with the high five at the recovery I said “Now… I can go ice fishing”.

Me too.  But it’s over now.   All day sit today.  Spent much of it watching an 8 pointer chase some does, then bed down where I couldn’t get a shot at him.  He left just before 2pm.   This guy came out at last light.  I love deer hunting but I was ready to be done.

Finally made it back out on Vermilion today.  The ice is in much better condition than I expected.  The spot I fished last Friday (3/8 mile out from McKinley Park which had only 3-4 inches of ice) had 9½ inches of ice today (top 1½ inch was frozen slush).  I walked out a little over 1/2 mile to fish and found 9 inches of ice (top 1½-2" was white ice).  I found large patches of slush at 1/4 mile out and 3/8 mile out from the landing, and then didn't find any more.  A couple of vehicles found slush at the landing as shown in the attached picture.  Any locations with large accumulation of snow are likely to have slush underneath (even after the -20°F temps the last 2 mornings up here.  Most of the surface was snow free or hard pack thin snow, very easy to walk on.   Lots of ATVs and sleds running around out from the Park, even as far as Ely Island and the small island before Birch Island.  A couple of ATVs dragged a small wheel house and a small skid house out of McKinley Park bay on the east side.  I'm sure that there will be a lot more vehicle traffic this weekend.  I'm going to wait until late next week to drag my lightweight skid house out with my sled.   Fishing was much better today than last Friday.  Caught 50% more walleyes, and they were much larger than last week.  Caught 4 eyes over 16 inches including the 22 inch pictured.  I caught one eye at 20 inches exactly but didn't dare keep that one, even though I think my adhesive tape scale measures fish longer than they actually are.  Started fishing at 9am and didn't catch an eye until 11am.  Then I would catch a couple about every hour.  The best bite was around 3pm.   If you venture out, be cautious of the ice condition, courteous of other anglers, pick up your trash, and good luck.
