Beltrami ice out?

Hey all, I know one or two of you have direct experience on Beltrami, and I'm wondering if the ice is rotten yet and pulling away from shore.

We're looking for the earliest date we can get the cabin open and the dock/boat in. Anyone know how it looks?

We attempted to do an ice rescue of a dog last night on Bemidji. The ice was broken up about 50 feet out before my guys could get on top, then it waved under their weight for about another 30-40 feet as they crawled before they could stand up and walk. So depending on dock length and sun exposure you could be looking as early as this weekend if you don't mind ice still on the main body of the lake.

The dog decided to run from the would be rescuers so we left it him out there.

Darn dogs. Don't know what's good for them.

We generally wait until the ice is all the way off. Prevailing spring winds almost always push the ice sheet toward the other end of the lake, but in the 25 years we've had the cabin there have been a couple times our dock would have eaten the big one if we'd have put it in too early.

Beef, if I'm lucky, and I mean REALLY lucky, Lisa and I might get into the cabin as early as Thursday. I'll give you a shout if we can get in early enough and have some time.

I drove by yesterday while checking a plethora of lakes in the area, and it looked much the same as the rest... ice. I didn't drive down to the access, but glanced through the trees on my way past on 22.

The ice sheets are starting to move around a little on Beltrami with a little water showing in between, but it's still pretty much locked up as of this morning...

Yep was out there this morning and it looks like that lake will probably get hit hard this weekend since Bemidji is still very icy!
