Big / Little Fork River ice out

Recommended Posts

How is it looking for ice out on the fork rivers? Any preditions with this warm weather? Thinking of fishing Thurs for sturgeon but don't want to be there when there going out.

Went over the rivers yesterday afternoon and there is still little evidence that they are going to clear anytime soon. The little creek west of Loman looks to be ready to clear but not the bigger rivers.

Big change in the "Forks". Starting to break out yesterday but extremely rotten and really don't expect any negative impact on the Rainy for sturgeon fishing or my dock for that matter.

Yes I agree. I went over them yesterday and with the low water it almost looks like they are melting in place. Probably not much of an impact unless we get a ton of rain.

Just came back from fishing downstream. Both "forks" were in place this morning but Little Fork went out around 5:00 p.m. today. Lots of ice five miles downstream.

We were sitting in front of the Littlefork yesterday and she let go big time from about 11 am through the rest of the day sporadically.

Big Fork and remaining Little Fork ice blew out this afternoon. 15 miles of major icebergs heading downstream. Hope it clears some by Monday when I head back up.
