Hey everybody. my student organization from Minnesota State University is going camping at Myre Big Island. I did some research and i read how the lake is very shallow and everything. my question to you guys is..

Does it allow Gas motors?

if no so i can bring my inflatable.

How is the fishing?

would it be funner to fish for rough fish. like carp. and/or catfish?

Any reports yet? or from last year?

And you fellas have any tips at all?

WEll thanks for looking. any tip or ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.

You should be able to have a great time!! Yes there are some shallow areas, but for the most part you can get around no problem. Average depth is 4 - 5 feet deep. Gas motors are allowed. It is a nice lake to fish, because there is not a lot of speed boat traffic. There are some very good spots to fish near where you are camping. So you dont have to travel across the whole lake to find fish. Walleye and perch are the main fish to bring set-ups for. I caught some real nice walleyes out there last fall, 16"-23". The ice fishing was good in the early winter months too. Let me know if you need any specifics. Send me an email [email protected] and I can get you some details, on spots and locations.

when are you going. i wouldn't exactly try to target any walleyes as the CO isn't going to appreciate that much until the opener.

lots of good places to try, print a lake map and try any of the points.

what organization? i was in rec club and this seems along those lines
