Is there any size to these carp? I'd love to go down there and give it a try. I'll make to sure to bring plenty of big treble hooks. ;\)

I wouldnt say its totally carp free of course. But back in the 70's you could walk across them. Carp as far as the eye could see from the Long Lake Rd. bridge.

They're still netting them out there? We used to go out and "help" the guys during the netting in winter when we were crappie fishing. Used to be some dandy walleyes in Long back then. I grew up near the bridge on long lake rd. Fished it pretty much every day.

My name is Jane. I am the one who cross-country skies in the pink ski pants and maroon jacket. I have the friendly yellow lab, Tandy.

The largest carp I have experienced on Long Lake was the one I kicked after I wiped out waterskiing 2 summers ago. My foot hit something that felt like I kicked a side of beef with scales! Creeped me out big time!

I can't vouch for the quality/size of the carp in LL but I can certainly vouch for the quantity. Every other winter they take 2 tanker trucks (18 wheelers) full of carp out of LL across from the beach. You should really witness it for yourself. It's something to see.

I've heard they send it out to Asian markets on the East coast but that is purely speculation on my part. Fish sticks maybe???
