Big Kandyohi Ice Out

Since I have vowed to put my dock in on April 19 this year I'm wondering how the ice is looking. A few years ago we got the dock set just in time to see the big ice sheet that was hiding behind the east point of the island come around and grind down the shoreline...fortunately Islander had set his 15 ton steel I-Beam dock that day and that managed to stop the progress of the approaching disaster. I just can't wait any longer.....28 days till the opener!

In the Willmar paper the other day,the DNR local guys had printed the area ice out latest dates,but only for Green & Diamond,and said something about,we could be approching these dates this year,Diamonds was I think May 5th,I only remember that cause I live on Diamond.Lots of ice yet.

Here's to hoping those warm temps this week burn off some of that ice... I feel your pain down here in St Paul.

Was by there on Wed. and there was maybe 10-15 ft of open water along the shore. Hopefully the wind on the thur/fri helped things out for you but I doubt it will be open.
