LCX-27 problem

Silver Scale

Question

I had a lowrance x15 which I replaced with an lcx-27c. Both were powered by the starting motor battery. Upon starting the motor the 27c shuts off. This never happened with the x15. Someone told me not to use the starting motor battery. Is this correct and if so how can I hook it up to my 24 volt batterys?

Use your starting battery, not your deep cycle batteries. Make sure you have a fuse protecting the 27c, I think Lowrance calls for a 3 amp fuse, best to have it as close to the battery as possible.

Check the charge in your starting battery. Maybe even take it to an automotive store and have it load tested. My guess is when you turn your motor over the battery's volts drops too low and the 27c shuts off (safety feature). You wouldn't be the first person this has happened too.

I agree exactly with what perchjerker said I had that happen and then we charged it up and made sure everything was fine with the battery and then we didnt have a problem!
